are there any special views in any direction, where is north and could you share a plan of the existing house so we can see how the extension will connect with the rest of the rooms?

No real views, bedroom faces pool to the front of the house. Awkward layout really but no other options. Bedroom door opens to hallway with another 3 bedroom down another hallway/landing and remaining house is across 3 lower "split levels". Sorry Terrible plan 🤦 but best I've got for now.

I did something similar a few years back. Why not put the ensuite across the end, then the WI robe in front. So you walk through the robe to get to the ensuite. Either have the door at one side, or in the middle, so you have like a walkin robe either side. Sorry I don't know how to upload a sketch.

is the door to the side courtyard essential? could there be sliding glass doors instead of the front window to give external access if necessary? i think the problems are the side door and the bedroom is too big and makes the ens and wiw too small...my suggestions offer three alternative locations for the external door and make the ens and wiw more spacious so two people can stand and dry and/or dress .... although there is slightly less wall area for storage in the wiw there's more standing room and option for a highlight window make the space brighter during the day...if you prefer a bigger bedroom the ens could still function at 1500 wide with a smaller shower but no change to the vanities or toilet space

@oklouise. Thabk you I actually love that bad not thought to put the layout that way. I wonder if it would be ok to move the WIR door sightly more centred on the bedroom side and move some storage so as I can still have the door to the courtyard? Or would this make down between robe and ensuite awkward? Was hoping to make a private outdoor seating area for the master. And prefer not to have sliding doors to the pool yard simply because of child safety/ drowning prevention. I have 3 young children so I would always be paranoid the door would get forgotten and be left open.

the best location for the external door is in the ens or the one next to the wiw where the walking space to wiw and outside door would overlap...having the external door in the corner means that you have to have an extra walkway on either side of the bed and side tables and that takes up much more space that is better used in the wiw and ens...having the wiw door in the centre of the wiw makes no difference to the location of the outside door (although it wastes more space in corners that can't be used and would give a better view of the toilet from the bed which could be avoided by having the toilet on the outside wall) or if the wiw door is closer to the hall side the shower has to be swopped to the outside wall or you will walk on wet floors ..if you want a view of the courtyard from the bedroom consider windows that can be narrower than a door and think about the external door being from the ensuite

Slight mod to okl plan to give hall cupboard if you need it. It’s not a resolved idea, just a thought
