Hi everyone, I need opinion for flooring .We have below mentioned tiles. We prefer to change to timber or tile . Need advise please.
Hard to give suggestions without knowing your personal furnishing style. And agree with big reader, get a professional in to clean the grout, you will be very surprised as to how much that can change the look of the tile.Tiles or timber are a personal choice that would suit the rest of your home furnishings, including window treatments. My personal choice is never to have shiny gloss tiles. I would always suggest Matt tiles, 600mm x 600mm, rectified edge...regarding timber, again what style of furnishings are you having?
What is in the adjacent rooms? Is that a pool outside so will wet feet be coming in? Do you have dogs or anything that may scratch timber floors - chair legs etc
Do you have anything else planned for the room? New paint, lighting, window coverings. What about the existing tiles bothers you. I prefer wood myself but your existing tiles aren’t offensive. With a good clean of the grout (coupled with fresh paint etc) I can see the tiles being a good base for the rooms.

Yes we have pool and kids 4 and 7 years old. we ar planning to paint the wall and changing to downlights.
As everyone said I will try to clean the tiles. Is it possible to paint the grout?
Any other suggestions to brighten the space please.
Tiles will wear the best. Do you like the current tiles. And are they in good condition, It is a messy process to remove them. I’d get quotes to clean and restore grout if you don’t want to replace. Don’t just paint grout as this won’t last well.
A full repaint including trim would do more for the room than new tiles. The tiles are a good neutral colour and with the grout professionally cleaned will look totally different. New window coverings willmake a world of difference. It’s hard to make suggestions when you haven’t indicated the style you’re after. If you don’t have a clue and that’s OK start idea books here on Houzz and on Pinterest and save pics of living rooms you love. That will give you an idea of what you’re after.
Actually I am clueless and not sure where to start.I like homely appearence and brightness.
What do you mean by new window coverings.
The vertical blinds in the room are very dated and will never be stylish. I’m not sure they’re even that practical. Don’t spend your budget on the floor when there are more pressing items bringing the room down. I see you have a few pics in your ideas book. You need to save more (20-30) of rooms that look or feel the way you want this room to look. Once you have that many you’ll see a theme appearing whether it’s the shape of the sofas, the colours used or the pattern of a rug. Only save pictures you truly love. Do the same on Pinterest. Then create a Moodbood for the room. This becomes your map for the room. It saves you money and decision fatigue.
I had my desk in my master bedroom for 2 years. I sat it in front of window so once I was sitting working I didn’t see the bed behind me. Had a storage unit to hide office mess in.
I agree, paint, replace light fittings and install new sheers on the window.
Oh sorry that comment was for another dilemma. Was wondering what happened to it.
