Using Colourbond and brick as external cladding? Fors and againsts?
Comments (2)Custom Orb looks great. But.....your flashings and trims can cost a lot of money and labour to finish well. If you use it in a few select areas that need little or no flashings then it works better. It becomes even more of a 'cool' feature then as well. Installing it vertical rather than horizontal could be much easier to install as well. We cladded our house in it about 7 years ago. While it looks great I probably wouldn't do it again due to the cost (and mucking around..) and also the fact that a change of colour isn't a paint brush away...... My preference would be FC sheet with battens over the joins, a bit of Custom Orb in a few selected areas that are hard to maintain/paint/etc and good old face brick. Recycled bricks rather than new would be a nice feature as well. Face brick needs little maintenance and doesn't damage easily from kids running into with bikes, etc.....See MoreNew colourbond fence
Comments (30)What a great backyard! The pool is the stunning centrepiece so you really want a fence colour that blends into the background. Having those hedge trees popping over the fence means a colour such as Woodland Grey® would make a great fence colour option. It would blend more with the tone of the trees and allow the pool to be the hero. We hope that helps....See Moreadvice on colourbond roof colour please
Comments (22)Restore the facade. Don't render as you'll loose the fabulous brickwork. Just re-point it. Do maintenance on the roof as needed. I'd pressure clean then see what it comes up like. If it's still a bit ordinary then paint it. I would do a bit of investigating on other original colour schemes before choosing charcoal, even though I admit the charcoal does look really good! By the way we render as we don't want to pay brickies to really use their craft so we buy cheap bricks and render. Render does look fine when used as a feature rather than a whole facade. Don't compete with neighbours make your house more desirable by keeping its character. I would however consider spending some good money on the landscaping. There are some superb gardens on these wonderful homes around the inner suburbs of Melbourne for example and would work great with yours....See MoreColourbond fence colour for White House and pool area?
Comments (7)you may find that you have a local powder coating company who can recolour the Colobond fence.. probably more expensive but better finish than handpainting and the neighbour may be interested in having the other side done as well (but you could also get a quote to replace the steel sheets and just hand paint the posts) and we always use very dark grey on fences and Colorbond Wooodland Grey is excellent fence colour...See Morebigreader
