EXTERIOR PAINT COLOURS
Comments (18)Light fascia, a not quite white, but very light colour that matches the yellow house - maybe the colour on the knobs on the platform. Same light colour for the posts & rails of the deck for all except the very top hand rail leave that grey. Like the first picture in the comments. Paint the end board on the bottom stair platform the same colour as the house. Grey stairs perhaps. Leave knobs light....See MoreNeed suggestions for exterior paint colours
Comments (7)I've seen lots of vibrantly coloured craftsman bungalows that look great, also some rather outlandish victorian houses! I've seen some awesome hot pink and black victorians! Do a search both on houzz and google. The amount of trim and detail really works to show off a more dramatic colour combination. You even have the wrought iron fence which could look amazing painted maybe a gold or metallic colour! Check out a flickr stream called the daily bungalow for some great inspiration, they have other albums worth a look too, but this one shows some more creative colour schemes. Based on the photos I have seen you would be better picking the darker colour for the walls and a brighter colour for the trim. https://www.flickr.com/photos/daily-bungalow/sets/72157616179338294 https://www.flickr.com/photos/daily-bungalow/sets/72157635350209034...See MoreHelp updating exterior house paint colours from 90's heritage look
Comments (6)Just me , but I'd start at the front , and just take the 'small steps' approach . The basics look well done . I'd go for repainting the front door in a 'popping' bright colour ( a bright red seems logical to me , as it would tie in with the 'plum' colour around the guttering ) , and see how that looks . The door does have the advantage and disadvantage that it is in the shadow most of the time , so it needs to be bright to be noticed , but you'd have to get the colour right . If that worked , I'd then be inclined to do the front and side window surrounds in the same colour as the front door , but initially only 30mm wide ( use making tape ) . The ones along the front and rear may look okay with the whole 80-100mm board painted , but I suspect the side windows would look overdone and out of character , So start smaller , stand back , wait a month , and modify if need be . Another thing , the 2 concrete 'bases' in front of the front door may get an uplift by doing just them ( they look like maybe 800mm tall by 300mm wide ? ) in the plum colour of the guttering -- ties the top and the entry together ? The pillars above them and across the front of the house , I'd leave as they are ....See MoreNew roof colour and window/verandah colouring to match?
Comments (12)FINALLY after too long, have completed one of the upper cedar wall replacements (& the most needed)... still debating colours. Altho I was set on the cedarshield natural cedar oil product, everyone is pushing paint due to longevity... because we missmatched old with new boards on verandah section, don’t think cedarshield would bring out same colour evenly unless a lot of time trying to ‘clean’ the old boards top layer. SO, back to colours. Thoughts? Light and beachy/modern is attractive but don’t think it’d suit the simple timber cottage look it has had for so long. Thinking dark trim with lighter weatherboards?...See MoreLisa Albery
