All the same bathroom , ensuite and powder room ?
Comments (12)HI Renae, I like your colour choice black & white, I went all white in my renovations of kitchen & bathroom and just by adding a bright coloured fruit bowl, vase, pot plant and a small painting in the kitchen made the kitchen look fresh whilst in the bathroom I just added bright towels bath mat. I changed the colours in winter to warm colours and cooler colours in the summer both kitchen and bathroom. These are simple and cheap things to change a look whilst if you go for timber it can date quickly and timber absorbs moisture so it has to be looked after (time consuming and $) looking forward to seeing your finished renovations....See MoreAustralians_ Has anyone done an ensuite that is only 900mm (0.9m) deep
Comments (22)Thanks siriuskey for your suggestions. I don't really know what style my taste/style of house is really. I like the simplicity of mid century furniture and have a mid century Parker sideboard. Other than that, the house is a bit of a blank canvas at the moment. (the kitchen is fairly modern though with almost white glass splash back, white cupboards, and stone bench tops that are in a colour like Caesarstone Osprey (but are essastone). I do like things from the late 1950's/1960's.....and I like Audrey Hepburn. I also like the Parisian type black n white art from that era. (but I also like naive art - big colour artworks of people or animals that look like they have almost been painted by a child). If I had the money I would buy a high ceiling mid-century home like they have in USA (a modern yet mid-century Brady Bunch style home). My house is a 1962 chamfer board on concrete posts and batterns around the bottom and currently just has satin polished mixed hardwood timber floors throughout. Most of the walls are either natural white as in the study or snowy mountain quarter strength (and in smallest bedroom - half strength russian toffee). Because I am always scared that things will date if they follow trends too much, I always seem to do fairly conservative or timeless things in house renovations and rely on the furniture and accessories to add colour and style. (I like the idea of renovations and the ripping out of old stuff to create something new, but I really don't like have to make all the creative decisions etc along the way)......so I do appreciate it when I get advice from others. I have printed your suggestions and will have a look at them. (I guess the barn door look is actually similar in concept to some of the timber veneer sliding doors seen in midcentury homes). Thanks again....See MoreSunshine House: ensuite and kids bathroom
Comments (7)There is absolutely no rules. But given most people struggle to makedecisions on bathroom fittings in not sure why you would put yourself through the pain of having to double the selection options! I would suggest putting a moodboard together of all the finishes you like and then work out how to divide between two rooms. E.g. maybe keeping floor tiles the same but having different feature tiles (if that's your cup of tea) in each room....See MoreNeed help with my ensuite layout
Comments (16)It's a shame that the door slides towards the shower because the first thing you see is the toilet. Could there be any other place for it? I love your inspiration photo but the two examples you have shown are not as inspiring. I would try a few more options before you set your layout in stone. I like the idea of the white vanity with the wooden top and try to find the black and white basin. Our best eye level storage is a recessed cabinet with a decorative mirror beside it. I can't understand this obsession with storing all the things you want to use behind the mirror you also want to use. Love that idea of tiling the kick-board to match the floor. I have also put mirror on the kick-board for the same effect. Wall hung cabinets definitely give the appearance of more space but do you out of some storage. I dislike the idea of a wall of glass at the shower unless you are a fastidious house wife because after a few years of being subjected to soap scum they can become cloudy and that can be permanent as I recently discovered in a rental property. In a tiny room the area can look larger if your tiles are laid on the diagonal. If you are forced to keep the same layout would you consider a piece of furniture for the vanity? Good luck. Remember the planning is half the fun....See MoreKeil D
