In hindsight, it would have been better to recess the cabinet into the wall. Then you could have some side lighting that wills stick out past the cabinet and give you lighting so the missus can do her thing and you can shave and see everything. I agree with previous comments about pendant lighting. Possibly look at a pair of lights over the top of the cabinet pointing down coming out of the wall. I attached some pics with ideas. Otherwise a row of led downlights above the cabinet would also look nice.

We're building 4x3.5 Two with ensuite and the others with a jack and Jill. Life has changed unfortunately and now everyone in the household works, kids stay at home longer and ageing parents sometimes move in for care. At the moment we have a 3 x 1 and really the only thing we really want for is a second toilet, which growing up we had because we had the one out the back with the red backs.

Hi iggs85, what is your style? You might need another ceiling mounted fitting, all depending on the feel you want to achieve. I noticed in your ideabooks you have quiet a modern or contemporary style. Also, keep in mind that the light you choose can't be any fixture because of the humidity in the bathroom. It's always a good idea to look at the bigger picture of your house and, not just one detail in isolation, so that the house design flows. This is the main reason why I asked what your style is. Yes I agree not to paint or add an faux type treatments as over time they will deteriorate and the bathroom will look tacky. My suggestion would be to hang two large rectangular framed photos. Use a light gold colour for the frame and almost silver looking one but you can just see the gold. Keep the framed photos light and classical, not to busy. On the vanity add a tray the same colour as the photo framed or with a mirrored look. Use white fluffy towels and a Scandinavian style light colour timber towel rack. Possibly a gold colour pot containing a leafy green plant. My
