By the way, your two options, as written are the same.

Both are great but I'd choose darker on floor with lighter walls (it's a good colour to hide mud, dust & hair well).

I'd choose lighter tiles if beachside if light coured sand is constantly being tracked in..

I'd want to see the vanity , the shape of the room , even the rest of the house . Its easy to say go darker on the floor , which is a good rule of thumb , but in say a smaller darker room with a dark vanity , you might want a lighter floor to provide a lighter contrast to all the 'darkness' above the floor level .

Conversely , if you have darker carpets in the surrounding rooms , a light floor in the bathroom may look out of character . I'm no expert , but a house with 10 rooms , each with a different tone and theme , will always look a bit like a disjointed kids playhouse , rather than something thought through .

The carpets in the ensuite room is Grey (Sensations Lone Star) and in the smaller room is kinda Beige (Sensations Ammonite). Pictures attached.

The first question -- you are asking about the bathroom ? Not the ensuite ? Just clarifying .

And if it is the bathroom , what colour are the hall carpets ?

If it was 'near' the lounge , looking at the laminate flooring , I'd prefer lighter flooring in the bathroom too , but right now I'm assuming it is the other end of the unit , and so I'd like to know about the immediate rooms surrounding it .

Actually wanted to know about both the bathroom and the ensuite.

Carpets are only in the rooms.

So the bedroom with the ensuite has the grey carpet ? The darker tile ties in well with that , so that would be the floor tile IMO .

And the hall outside the 'main' bathroom is the lighter laminate ? The lighter tile is similar , so that would be my likely go to there , depending on vanity colour etc .

Okay I think it makes sense putting the darker grey on the floor in the en-suite and lighter walls keeping in line with the grey carpet in the bedroom. Only worry is that the darker shade may make the space a little cramped.
