Kitchen looks great. It’s also bigger, where did the space come from?

If you look at the extra photo's @Kate , you'll see that it is very narrow , that the 'breakfast bar' part comes 600 or so over the window or sliding door , you realise it is more about looks than practicality . Like you though , I can't work out the cupboards on the other side .

Similarly , I can't work out where the purple or mauve 'bit' is -- the before picture doesn't seem to have any brickwork like that . Just on a 'sale' theme too -- I would suspect that colour would be fairly polarising , whereas a charcoal or similar would be a lot more universally appealling if selling ?

On a positive note , I think this would have to be the first ever 'before' picture posted on Houzz that has the light on , and the bench wasn't completely buried under 60cm of old cookbooks and newspapers and tea-towels !

I think the transformation is beautiful, with my concerns being the gas cooktop and the placement of lighting.

Is that the oven, up high? I don't like to think of people lifting hot food down and spilling it. Microwaves are too often placed up high, dangerous and difficult for children and the elderly.
