Help me pick a light fixture for my living room! Please!
Comments (12)I would be inclined to go with an unobtrusive light since it's the living room and anything too dramatic or a hanging pendant may interfere with your peripheral vision (or otherwise be an annoyance) when you're watching TV, etc. Also, being so near the sliding door, the wind may cause a hanging pendant to swing quite a bit which will cause the lighting to be constantly shifting and changing which I would personally find annoying. I'd go with something simple and subtle, but look at getting a tall standing lamp for the corner near the sofa (or possibly at the other end of the floating TV cabinet). In terms of warming up the apartment, I think you need something on the bare walls. A smaller picture above the floating TV cabinet will help to take the focus off your TV. A larger art work behind the sofa will also help to add some colour and personality, especially if it picks up some hues from your sofa. If you don't like the little Buddha statue, I would look at adding one or two other items that you do like (perhaps picking up colours from the wall art) and making a little vignette. A couple of colourful cushions and a storage solution for the wires, games console, etc on the floor would also help to bring everything together. Something as simple as a woven basket under the floating TV cabinet might help to keep the games console, etc in place unless it is in use....See MorePlease help with lounge room design...
Comments (23)Also love the buffet....it could be the "hero" of the room. It is beautiful and they are so hard to come by at a reasonable price. I have a much cheaper style mid century buffet and initially had the TV on top of it, but now the TV is wall mounted above it. The distance between the wall and the couch wall is about 4m and we have no issues with the TV being too high...you definitely need to factor that in if you wall mount it though...luckily I had a handyman friend helping me, otherwise I would have put the TV too high. With the TV being mounted, it actually makes the buffet more of a feature and anything that is put on the buffet is now "displayed" instead of being part of clutter with the TV. It looks great and I know yours will too if you wall mount the TV. That is the great thing about the mid century buffets...they seem to fit in just as well as modern furniture as they do with the classic furniture....and because your is "classic", it will never date...a great investment....See MoreThis room needs some life added... Comments (35)Hi Ginny, What a great room! Artwork always adds personality, ambience and interest to a room. Please see attached some images of your room with some original artwork by Australian artist all of which are available on hatch-d. Artwork depends on your personality and the size and lighting in your room. I'd be very happy to help you find the right pieces for your room at a great price. Just email me through the website and we can start an obligation free conversation. Best, Jacqui...See Moremake my room wow please
Comments (8)Your room is a wonderful size. I would install white shutters on all other windows. You can regulate light and airflow easily. It looks like you have louvre windows, so these would work together. I would suggest a white bedroom suite, to keep with the coastal/Hampton vibe, that you seem to have already....See Moredreamer
