Budget Kitchen makeover
Comments (18)Firstly, congratulations on a great job. Your Kitchen looks fantastic. Well done! Just a thought, as we have been through the same scenario for a client's window treatment in their new kitchen. We looked at conventional blinds also and the dilemma for them was, sun protection in the afternoon and privacy in the evening. Ask ourselves firstly, what is the primary reason for putting up a blind. We decided to actually get some pattern into the kitchen, to add some interest and something a bit different to the norm. They had a mid taupe/ grey subway splashback tile We used a complimentary soft grey/taupe coloured fabric with a classic pattern. This will be made into a roller with pelmet. Your budget is always a consideration, but maybe it can stretch to a custom made? If not, then you can always get a premade blind. Maybe even a synthetic rattan or weave that you can take down and wash. Good luck with your decision!!...See MoreKitchen revamp
Comments (4)Less is best as the costs of a full reno will skyrocket quickly. If the changes wanted are significant then a full reno may be the only cost effective option though. Some carcasses can be changed but the remnants of screw holes and hinge positions may detract from the 'new' kitchen. Therefore a new carcass may be needed. I'd certainly look at doing some budgets up for the various choices then decide from there. A good kitchen place would also come up with some costings on your choices as products vary so much these days, some are quality some aren't....See MoreModernise kitchen on a budget
Comments (14)I redid a whole mustard laminex kitchen once with the wipe on stuff from hardware that binds paint to any surface. It looked amazing ..like brand new. I wouldn't do the bench tops though. Rather.... paint walls a warm white and all cupboard doors a really nice pale grey ( be careful....no blue grey, pink grey or green grey) A soft warm grey. The bench tops might then looks OK for replacement later. When painting...wipe on stuff, follow their instructions, coat of enamal paint, wait 24 hours, light sand and another coat, repeat and then final coat after 24 hours. Remove door handles before you paint and chuck in bin....get new white handles with a rounder shape. Should look good and not cost much. ....See MoreHow can I revamp this Kitchen/Kitchen cabinets on a budget?
Comments (5)A few of your cabinet doors will need realignment, but painting it may make it look even more dated it depends on your colour selection. Definitely change out the handles and if budget permits change the bench top too. They are easy to install if you get laminate bench top. You could try for a two tone kitchen to test run your colour selection. I'm under the impression the current kitchen matches the rest of the house so if you paint either top or bottom cabinets first and test out if it suits lighting and overall scheme paint the rest....See MoreRaghad Hassan
