Comments (9)640-500 is not big enough for any worthwhile fridge and i think the space will be better used with access from the hallway. A Frig alcove at least 750 -800 wide will allow for some variation in frig size (with necessary breathing space all around) as well as being suitable for most standard flat pac "over the fridge" cabinets...my daughter is very happy with her DIY Kaboodle kitchen although she chose a different brand counter because the timber bench top in a different brand was much cheaper..The best finish will be determined by careful selection of sizes to avoid any little gaps and very careful assembly to ensure everything is perfectly straight (buy a spirit level)...and, do you need or want such a big stove? a built in cooktop and oven and/or a cook top with built in wall oven and microwave might be worth considering: Think about how you will use the space eg the counter in the corner under 13 would be great for using a food processor or mixer but i would like the space to be about 1200 wide with overhead cabinets or open shelves, what would you store in a pantry? Shallow pantrys are great if you want to store lots of cans and packets but if you use mostly fresh foods then consider a bigger fridge space. Do you make lots of coffee and tea, cook mostly stir fry and grills but not much baking, then a good cooktop and microwave/grill and modest under bench oven might suit better and those necessary corner cabinets in your kitchen are the best place for electric frypans and rarely used appliances and the coffee maker should sit on the counter and kettle next to the sink, ready for a cuppa...See MoreKitchen Layout Help
Comments (5)I like the first floor plan with the sink and dishwasher next to stove. With the cabinetry plan the dishwasher is right in middle of prep space which is annoying if you want the kids to empty dishwasher whilst you are prepping food on island. Just make sure you have 700 depth where fridge is and at least 1200 walkway in front of it....See MoreKitchen/living layout help needed!
Comments (18)Thanks everyone for your floor plans - really interesting options that I would never think about!! So many things to think about and play around with! Unfortunately can't extend as that would require full DA and we don't have the budget for it 😢 May make the fireplace into a wine rack or something (is isn't currently a working fireplace and we don't have gas) so that would give it more rationale for being in the kitchen area if the kitchen does stay there... Bedroom is 3 bed (3rd bedroom would probably be more of an office/nursery) so not a big family place but this is the only entertaining/ living area... with an undercover, tiled & heated area out the back of the glass doors....See MoreKitchen layout help
Comments (13)i would prefer not to have a door between pantry and laundry and added the door more for extra light for the windowless laundry but a simple solar skylight will make the laundry bright enough and a floor mounted condensor dryer will avoid the humidity (and depending on upstairs floorplan a laundry shute could be an option?) ... the location of the wall oven shouldn't be a problem (i have a similar arrangement) and keep in mind that the oven door is only opened occasionally standing to the side and the counter (or sink drainer) over the dishwasher is an extra convenient location for a right handed set down space for hot ovenware and, eliminating potential traffic through the laundry, will help make the oven location even better ...but i have to ask the location of any views or north as the windows on the plan seem oddly placed?...See MoreDutchy Pup
