(I added the 3 measurements in your drawing and get 3610mm too but architraves may vary it so floor measurement is good. Just hoping you have the same width to make the space comfortable and workable. Wow you do have a large home! So for dining I think a beautiful rectangle table to suit the proportions of the room. A round one needs to be at least 1500mm diameter for six chairs and wouldn't fill the space much. That would leave 1100 ish around the table each side which is okay but may look better with say 21-2500 x 1000 rectangle which seats 8 to 10 and leaves 1400mm room around each side or less if offset for buffet unit against wall. It would probably still leave room for a couple of occasional chairs & small table for casual seating near the kitchen. One thing I harped on to my hubbie about during our reno was the "luxury of space" and you don't need to fill it up...he get's it now. What are you doing with the ceiling beams? Painting them out would help modernise the space too I think. I'm not sure about the bricks yet but would love to see a picture of the empty room. Are you doing without a kitchen during this process?...See MoreHelp with kitchen design and colours!
Comments (21)The layout of the kitchen is functional as is. If you move the oven to the other side it'll be too far from the sink for hot liquids, plus it'll be in a walkway. In it's current location the oven would be next to the doorway (but not a thoroughfare) so be sure to leave 200mm beside the oven. A pull out spice/oil rack would be ideal. By leaving the oven in it's current location you'll save on electrical costs. The fridge would be ideally located where your proposed oven site is. A broom cupboard could be placed next to it to make up the space. To let light in I suggest cutting out a small section of the tin roofing in the pergola area and putting tinted polycarbonate roof sheeting in it's place. IKEA has great kitchens flat packs that are easy to put together....See MoreHelp with kitchen design and layout
Comments (13)The kitchen will be custom built, I’ve put the voids in as I really dislike corner cabinets and blind corner cabinet units and would rather have more room for drawers. I spent quite a bit of time going through what I store in my current kitchen and I’m confident I’ll have enough storage even with the voids. Your question re the distance from the corners to the edges of the architrave... I think your referring to the sunroom door? I have 2160mm along wall A, this section is brick and the architraves are actually recessed a bit and sit at approx 2260. What other corner to architrave measurements do you need? We are having a gas cooktop, it is 650mm but will fit in a 600mm cabinet. As for the dishwasher i had considered moving it into the peninsula but we are building on a concrete slab and whilst not impossible the plumbing would be difficult here due to very hard to access spot under the house in this section ( enclosed/walled piers, low height). And I thought that having the dishwasher where it is allows for better access for two people in the kitchen, generally when we clean up someone deals with the dishes and the other person packs away leftovers etc. which will be best done from the peninsula where they can easily access the drawers under it and the fridge. Also my husband is left handed and I have been using a dishwasher to my left for the last 12 years so I‘m fine with it....See MoreNeed help with kitchen design
Comments (10)Hi Shebin Shukoor , If you need to close the kitchen, but also need the U shape kitchen, I suggest the rolling door above the bench top area. If there is bi-fold door runing on the bench top, it means that you have to clean up all items on the the bench top each time you just finish your work on it, for example having breakfast, if not, the bi-fold door will hit the cutlery sets by mistake and some of them may be broken. so I suggest the rolling instead....See More- 2 years ago
