Hi creativelychallenged, I'm pretty sure all the tiles are faux-marble from Beaumont Tiles. I've used them in bathrooms and they are cost-effective (from $40sqm un-laid) and look beautiful. Marble and now faux-marble is a classic look so not prone to dating. You may have noticed its recent popularity due to the faux-marble now available as the average homeowner may not have the budget for real marble. People worry about decor 'dating' - think about what you love, what will make you happy to live with - decor doesn't last forever because our own tastes change and decor can suffer from wear and tear. Choose what you LOVE and you can't go wrong :-)

What a gorgeous bathroom! Would love to see vanity too. The black feature tile en masse is simply stunning- so dramatic a feature. Yes, I would want to continue the black tile theme to have consistency in the house. I would probably have black tile on the 'bathroom' side and gloss light latte on 'laundry' side, with sand tiles on floor. May I ask what your vanity/basin will be?

expensive to lay them but worth the money, the bathroom looks fresh and contemporary but more contrast could have been used maybe the floor tile running up the end shower wall, may have been a highly pattened tile, or different shape, smaller of bigger tiles, but that is nit picking. love the timber vanity maybe a bit to close to the floor, but 9 out of 10.

Ros213 GI, I think it depends on how much you want to spend. Both options can look beautiful. I also saw on this site somewhere that people had used a stencil to paint a wallpaper like wall (it was in a lounge room but looked great all the same). I tiled to the ceiling in both small bathrooms that I have just renovated....tiles and tiling work out quite an expensive outlay. However, I was doing some dreaming the other day, and went through a home that I can't afford, as per link.........it's bathrooms gave a sense of luxury and beauty and yet very little of the walls were tiled....I think it all comes down to good design in the end....https://www.realestate.com.au/property-townhouse-qld-grange-133034482
