Optimal Alfresco Design for Perth WA

Hello Houzzers.

This project has been very, very long in the planning stages. Hopefully soon we will be able to start building!!!

After gathering much information, advice and guidance from fellow Houzzers, we have tried to design an alfresco that will still allow the winter sun to warm the living room and compliment the design of our home and roof line. Our alfresco faces 331°NW. We live in Perth.

Our alfresco must be able to provide all year round weather protection and be a shady and cool spot to enjoy bbqs in summer by the pool. Our fear is that the alfresco designed may not meet our needs in terms of rain and sun protection? The bbq area will also need protection and there will be a tv in the alfresco too. Do you think this alfresco design will be too hot to comfortably use in the summer time with the higher pitch?

All our windows will be double glazed, including the large sliding doors leading to alfresco from living.

Are we better off sacrificing the higher pitched alfresco for a more enclosed flat roofed traditional alfresco? We do not want any expensive regrets :(

Any assistance and advice greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU!!!
