Comments (20)Congrats, great potential. I agree that a grey like limed white would be great on the walls. The ceilings look lower than some 60s houses and painting both ceiling and walls in the one colour or 1/4 strength can accentuate the height of the rooms. White trim on the skirts and door frames are not too bland but those windows may look better framed with a darker trim. This colour palate will be a great canvas for you to add colour and texture that you indicated you like in furniture, baskets, throws etc. Suggest sticking to painting pre move in and once you've lived there a while you will know what you/house needs. Comments (23)Also love the buffet....it could be the "hero" of the room. It is beautiful and they are so hard to come by at a reasonable price. I have a much cheaper style mid century buffet and initially had the TV on top of it, but now the TV is wall mounted above it. The distance between the wall and the couch wall is about 4m and we have no issues with the TV being too high...you definitely need to factor that in if you wall mount it though...luckily I had a handyman friend helping me, otherwise I would have put the TV too high. With the TV being mounted, it actually makes the buffet more of a feature and anything that is put on the buffet is now "displayed" instead of being part of clutter with the TV. It looks great and I know yours will too if you wall mount the TV. That is the great thing about the mid century buffets...they seem to fit in just as well as modern furniture as they do with the classic furniture....and because your is "classic", it will never date...a great investment....See MoreNeed help with kitchen design please.
Comments (17)by using standard cabinets pulled out from the window walll and adding a deeper counter there'll be a narrow void along the wall with space to install a sink and dw and then cut out a space in the counter to allow for the lower window frame and create a dropped shelf for an inside "window box", ideal for a few small plants or herbs and then use tall shallow freestanding cabinets or bookshelves for pantry storage and add a small freestanding extendable dining table.instead of an island..eg IKEA Billy bookcases with plain and glass doors for the pantry and they have a wide range of suitable tables...and note that the pantry cabinet can extend outside the kitchen space eg glass doors would be good for dinnerware, glasses, books and music and if the new laundry door is positioned as shown there'll be better use of the corner shown as a "study nook" for a desk or ironing work space etc...See MoreKitchen design help please
Comments (1)Hi Loraine, Lift up mechanisms can be used on the cabinet widths indicated in your drawings. There are regulations to clerances around gas cooktops (as you know from a previous post) including heights. According to the AS/NZS 5601.1 clearance rate of no less than 600mm for a rangehood taken from the highest part of the highest burner of the gas-cooking appliance (but I recommend 700mm high clearance from the benchtop ergonomically). As for width, personally I would not recommend using a 600mm wide hood over a 750mm cooktop and 900mm is your best option as this provides better catchment area. If you opt for an Undermount, say something like a Falmec, these can provide 1140 cubic mts of extraction an hour compared to older slide-out-hoods that only provide 300 cm/h where this newer type is far more efficient at helping keep your new kitchen clean and fresh. You can easilly achieve this 900mm by taking 50mm off the left and right overheads without disturbing the balance of your design. Hope this is of help. Regards Malcolm...See Moreamynewberry
