kitchen splashback ideas

We just had our new kitchen installed and have got no idea on a splashback and are not happy with how it is looking at the moment in regards to knobs etc any advice would be awesome before there is no turning back .

What look are you after? Plain colour or patterned tile? Glass splash back? The knobs are small, so not ergonomically good, but do look good to me. My favourite for years, and is and I think will always be looking good, is the 75mm x 300mm hand made subway tile with the undulating surface. They bounce the light around and add texture. Available in lots of colours.

This kitchen is similar to yours and has the square hand made tiles, with the undulating surface. Looks good. Adds texture and interest.

We recently did a splash back in our new kitchen using 41 x 41 mm square stainless still tiles from a company in Western Australia called ALLOY. They look amazing and everyone comments on them. They make tiles out of lots of different metals and in larger (and smaller) sizes.

HI Lyn Depends on where you live, but here in Auckland, Winstone Glass will give you a glass splashback in ANY Resene colour, which would mean you could get exactly what you want. Personally I have a white kitchen with white speckled granite tops, and all walls white, so I went with a black glass splashback that has an ever so slight sparkle at night, doesn't sparkle in daytime. Looks stunning. You can get cheap pre made splashbacks at Mitre 10, Bunnings etc, but they don't use the glasskote technology, so you can see in behind them, whereas Winstones ones, you can have white and not see the wall at all. Cherry Pop - great looking tiles, however your decsion to use them as splashback will depend on their size and the height of the available area to tile. With such a strong pattern you don't want to trim a tile to fit the height. The ideal solution would be to install the window so that the distance between the underside of the window architrave, near the bottom of the window, and the installed benchtop is exactly one tile in height. This will need some careful measurement and juggling of trades to get it perfect. Or you could change your pool tile to be less of a feature such as this simple, white, square, contemporary mosaic. As it is smaller, and has no pattern then it doesn't matter if a row needs to be trimmed to fit in the available wall space. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls

Neither of the two tiles you’ve selected look that cohesive with your other choices. It may be the screen but the colour and texture looks off. I’m always surprised that people don’t pick all their selections at the start of the project. Do an image search of green kitchens here on Houzz and on Pinterest and you’ll see a lot of options to inspire you.

If you are going for a Hamptons feel a tile in a duck egg blue will look lovely but the colour will need to be considered with the rest of your home. Using the same stone as the benchtop is a more minimalist feel but always looks great.

Dreamer we don’t really have a look to be honest..I find glass splashback very boring so will definitely go a tile. That egg colour looks 👌…Possibly should of went white on the kicker as well.

And also not sure if should paint the kitchen white the window frame is vivid white

Your existing paint colour looks great with the benchtop. If you go with larger black pulls, all of them or just the lower cabinets, it will tie in with the kicker more. Styling with some black accessories will also do this.
