Help with budget kitchen reno

We are wanting to renovate our kitchen, on a budget. The pantry is really narrow and doesnt hold much, new benchtop and either new cabinets or just replace cabinet doors (as alot of them are falling apart/peeling).

few questions:

- wondering whether we block off the door that goes through to hallway to give us more bench space and room for a bigger fridge. Only problem is would have to walk around to laundry. we have widened the doorway between entry and family room already. would this work and if so, what layout for kitchen?

- is it easy to replace just cupcoard doors and keep cabinets? if so, who does this? Woukd still need new pantry too

- or would it be just as cheap/better option to do somwthing like a kaboodle kitchen with new everything

- any other suggestions for layout would be appreciated.

Please post the measurements of the kitchen, every wall. How far is the end of the kitchen island to actual wall on other side of walkway.

The tile floor will always be the elephant in the room so consider if it is realistic to change. If you must keep the tiles here are some other fixes that will improve the space. 1. Look through Houzz and make a scrapbook of what you like - You need to determine the style of the kitchen -if you are to keep the doors you could head towards a hamptons style. Consider how the adjoining spaces are decorated as any changes may need adjustments elsewhere. I would cost out each element of the job and decide if you can do it all - possibly over time, as when you do one thing it makes others look shabby and the decisions you make for one aspect would have been different with an overall plan. 1. Remove the pelmet in the kitchen. 2. Paint the cupboards - possible going to a darker colour on the bottom and a lighter on the top. A dark charcoal could work and a grey toned white for the top cupboards. There are some nice Caesarstone options that could pick up these tones with a marble look. 3. The handles need to be heavier as they are trying to be contemporary when the cupboard profile is more traditional 4. You need to replace the bench top- this is your biggest problem as it is totally dated. 5. Your pantry doors ? are different and need to have the same handles. 6. Could go with white glass subways with a soft grey toned grout. If you change the cupboard profile - a squared off shaker style would work- remember that many of the gloss white kitchen s being built these days will soon be dated - so depending on the age of the house - stay traditional. good luck.

I've been playing around with a pantry location. Originally, I was going to move the pantry into the laundry with some custom shelving and cut the laundry space in half. Now, Im thinking of cutting into the study area and building a wall there, and converting the new space into a long and narrow walk in pantry. Either that or build half a wall and put built in shelving in the study. Building the extra wall will reduce the need to cover in the door way that is currently in place and instead utilising it. Thoughts? p.s. this isnt too scale.

Gee, they are both lovely and completely different to one another. The Georgian Bluffs contains veining which seems to impart more character, while the Ocean Foam appears cleaner, crisper and plainer. It boils down to a matter of taste and which complements the overall look and design of your kitchen. IF you want your benchtop material to be the main attraction/feature in the kitchen, my opinion is the GB would achieve this better Have you visited a kitchen display centre or a Caesarstone display centre? Seeing each up close and in an actual kitchen would be beneficial. A large slab will give you a better idea than a small sample piece.

A (good/competent) design professional should be able to assist you with exploring your options and demonstrating what ballparks the different options/configurations will cost with accuracy in this regard. The biggest misunderstanding I see on these forums with people entertaining renovations or whatever, is the thought that they need to (for some reason) work it all out themselves either with an understanding of cost or not before they hire a professional. This is exactly what (design) professionals (should) do. To answer your question, yes you are most likely unrealistic/dreaming with your budget limit to achieve an extended space including new bathroom and larger bedrooms, taking over laundry etc. BUT there could potentially be an option that achieves something like consolidating works to just an extended Master with ensuite, or extending all Bedroom spaces somehow but keeping existing bathrooms to avoid redoing expensive areas...it will (like as always) be weighing up options and working out exactly what/how to prioritise. This is my suggestion, but depends on how much room there is to open fridge. Definitely close up the door way. The benefits will out way the need to walk a couple of metres. Then that new wall can be full height and depth cabinets or bench and overhead cabinets. Or a combination of the two. Depending on the size and condition of the carcasses of your existing kitchen, it is a good budget choice to just change the doors. But it would more expensive if you needed to get doors made by a kitchen cabinet maker, and not just bought from retail shops already made. So standard size carcasses would be a bonus. Do the measurements and then do the maths of full kitchen replacement. When you say a small budget, is this $5000 or $500?

As it appears there is not enough room for fridge next to peninsula, here is alternative. Put storage/bench along entire left hand wall, remove peninsula and put fridge on the wall next to sink.

Referring to above, ensure fridge has cabinetry built around it, so it looks cohesive to the rest of the kitchen.

Kaboodle have a calculator on their website and so does ikea. You can get an idea of the $ for cabinetry

Measure every cabinet and door. IKEA is not standard so if not an ikea kitchen look elsewhere. 2nd hand kitchens can help budget. Can you replace pantry with deeper version. Can you open up the store wall? Reno cost you will need to do work yourself and look at second hand cabinets.

We went with kaboodle and found it to be pretty good, but we didn't replace the carcass and luckily all the doors we had were standard sizes
