We are designing a drying cabinet for our laundry and would like to hear your recommendations regarding vents, heating and/or dehumidifiers. Is it worth installing a cupboard like this? Thank you.
we live in an area with long wet winters and find that the best drying appliance is a long hanging rod above the laundry cabinets in front of an open window that's used for anything that can be hung on a coat hanger and a small lift up clothes line attached to a wall under eaves as well as a standard clothesline outside but it's very rare to not have at least one drying day occasionally and prefer washing hung out to air dry and only use our underbench condensor dryer to finish off drying in an emergency
I visited an acquaintance in melb who put one in about 7 years ago and they loved it. I could not justify the price or space in my laundry. I must say I had a drying cupboard under our stairs growing up. It was awesome. As a little kid we could get dressed in there and it was a great place to hide. The wet clothes were hidden away which was a good thing for family of 7. We also had a tumble dryer for things like sheets that you couldn’t hang under there.
I live in the same climate as Melbourne and dry everything in the dryer so a drying cupboard would be worth it. I currently also use a dehumidifier for when I have something that can’t go in the dryer and need to use a clothes horse. This works well but takes up floor space and a cupboard alternative would be wonderful.
