We have recently renovated our kitchen and have learned some great lessons as a result. Keep the sink at the end of the bench, it gives you more clear prep space and a breakfast bar. Putting it next to the stove will mean tracking things across the kitchen from sink to prep bench increasing dropped mess, wet floors and extra steps for the cook. Not sure if dishwasher is in the island or butlers pantry. If it is in the island put it to the left of the sink then long drawers to the left of that. You can then rinse, stack and unstack in one smooth process. A pull out bin system at opposite of island to the sink is handy to use for both kitchen and household rubbish.

Thank you, our dishwasher will be in the butlers pantry:) my concern for leaving the sink there was due to the fact that’s next to the fridge and coffee machine, so would be easier for when we are making coffee to have a bench close by to place mug etc, but I guess I have that small space next to the stove, I may leave where it is :) so hard to decide specifically when is something like this where we wouldn’t be able to change easily in the future. Small sink on bench. Next question which end. Think about how you will use bench and sink. You get things from pantry. Will sink be in way at that end or helpful.

Next to the stove will look like an after thought. On another note, your lighting plan needs tweaking the downlights between the island and the stove have been centred for aesthetics but you’ll need then for task lighting. They need to be between your head and the stove so you can see what you’re doing. If you’re planning on working in the Butlers, then those need moving also. The downlight in front of the fridge could be deleted if you need one to use elsewhere.

If there is a light in your range hood, I would not move the lighting. Keep sink where it is in the plan.

Marking up the pic is beyond my ability on the phone but you can use the downlight near the sink in the Butlers as a guide. Where it finishes on the edge of the bench means the light will be between you and the task in front of you. One good thing about downlights is they give you a good clear light for tasks. Essential for when you may be using a sharp knife or lifting something hot. And my vote for the island sink is down one end. If the budget allows pop a powerpoint in your broom cupboard for dustbuster etc., and consider one also in the powder room, and make sure there is one in reach to cover vacuuming the hall.

My suggestion with power and lights. I would shift sink to other end of bench so you have space to dump things from fridge. Missing power point for dishwasher and in powder room. Also not marked is power for oven etc. need to specify where u want more than one point.

You could put a power point inside the cabinet underneath the sink/benchtop. Having a mirror, storage and power in the powder makes an extra 'bathroom' in the house. If you have kids this can be a space where one can get ready - hair, makeup, brush teeth etc and another can be in the main bathroom- I have found this super handy at stopping arguments.
