Decorating a bathroom niche

Suggestions welcome in regard to decorating this tiled niche in a bathroom to soften the area. All toiletries are housed in a shower niche as the bath is not used that often. Depth of the niche is around 9cm so restricted in terms of plants but could perhaps consider a weeping plant in a small pot. Window faces south. Not keen on candles.

There is only the 2 of us so we both use the ensuite. The shelf is not wide enough for towels and not sure where to buy nice soaps. Visitors will use it for toilet and washing hands but the shower wouldn't get used unless someone was staying over and then I can take out whatever is there.

Given your vanity choice and tile choices, you look like you favour a transitional style. The dado height suits this well. We've done similar in 2 of our bathrooms. It would be lower (1.2m) than your existing tiling around the bath.

You can actually buy the pre formed niche that is then tiled over (same as for a shower tray that is tiled over).
