Upgrading all tapware in bathroom

Is upgrading my tapware (shower heads, mixers, bath tap etc) a possibility? I’m not after a complete bathroom reno just a facelift and I’m wanting to change from the chrome to brushed brass? Would I just be looking for similar fittings to what I have now in order to replace successfully?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yes just look for a new bath spout and a new shower head set up. Take a photo to your plumbing supply company and they will recommend a good retro fit design. I would not replace the mixer in shower and bath. Just clean it with gumption. Unless you want to go a completely different profile or colour. Then yes replace as is, otherwise it will be a costly plumber job.

Thank you great advise. Not wanting to change the mixer set up as such, but I want to find a brushed brass mixer. Will the tiles underneath this base plate be scratched? All of the brass plates I’ve found are slightly smaller than this one…

The tiles are not offensive..most people are choosing white with white anyway. Given the items you want to keep I would simply replace the bench top, add a new wider longer mirror, that fills the space where you currently have the tiles and if you are using laminate it can only be an above mount sink. If you are doing stone or timber then you can have an undercount sink. I would possibly consider taking off all the wall tiles and find a more natural tile to work with your floors and then add a lick of paint to freshen it all.

Great job- really fantastic. A tip for anyone in the process of renovating a bathroom: I used Blake and Taylor chalk paint with a couple of sealer coats to paint a laminex vanity in our bathroom- and it looks great. Easy to apply and looks like a million dollars now. include new knobs from the great range at Paddington Hardware, and you can spend the money you've saved on good tapware.

a happy husband and wife is the most important thing in the house and there should be something to suit you both (there are so many to choose from) but with our latest renovation the style we liked did not have matching taps for shower and vanity so we chose different styles and haven't thought about it since!!

Hi there. I need to re tile the main bathroom in my house because I'm adding an extra bathroom and changing the tapware. I have decided on a concrete looking grey tile for the floor but I'm struggling to decide what to do on the walls and the basin/vanity. Turn off your water then unscrew the fixtures from wall and check the damage to tiles. Your problem may be the bath mixer which has an unusually large flange. You may need to get someone to make up a flange for you

The tiles should not be scratched if the mixer surround has not been moved. The underside tiles will just be dirty. I recommend using gumption to clean the tiles. But first you have to make sure the new mixers, tap and shower head, that you are choosing, can be retro fit.

If you need someone to make up a flange or any other parts, check out Consolidated Brass - CB Ideal. They’re based in Adelaide but were fantastic when they custom made a tap for us. I think from memory too that they could clean and dip your tapware changing it to brass.
