Room and Robe Help Please
Comments (21)The previous suggestions are fabulous, so if you have the money, I would go with one of them. If you haven't the money, then I would do what an earlier reader mentioned and have the bed facing north near the bathroom. You can run a power cord along the floor and you can buy white plastic covers that hide the power cord discreetly on the skirting board. Then place a chair and small table beside it near the bay windows to balance the length of the room and perhaps hide the power point. This is not the best solution as it'll make the bed hard to make and have little room for a bedside table. But it is cheaper. Just an alternative. Another way to do this cheaply would be to do what Two Company's Renovations suggested but instead of building a wall using your cupboards as the wall and making your own large, bed head to cover the back of both of the cupboards. Just a thought. Still building the wall or walk in may not be as expensive as you may think. Worth getting a quote....See MoreFeedback on floor plan for new build
Comments (96)Sorry to continue....the plan by Louise on the 20/01/2017.... But the laundry ( with internal access or through cloak room) and ensuite to the rear of the garage the master behind...... Then a Wir separating the master form the living or a bathroom...... The a fireplace if required against the western wall central in the house.... The entrance and small cloak room for the winter woollies against the garage and the other three beds at the front RHS with bath near.... The lounge/ kitchen/ dining in a similar layout but with minimal a walls blocking the view from the entry to the living/kitchen .... I like at lease a small wall dividing the living and lounge for the teenagers also.... If I get an chance I will sketch something up. Good luck this the paperwork... Plans are the fun part....See MoreAlternative Walk in Robe/Ensuite
Comments (52)Owwww nice you two. Need a solar tube in bathroom, but my preferred layout...as you can get away with cheaper cabinets if you aren't walking through a wardrobe . If you are walking through..needs to be a bit posh/ lux looking. With lovely cabinetry...See MoreHouse layout - feedback please
Comments (25)the floor of the northern verandah downstairs can be any size to accommodate space for socializing but the upstairs balcony forming the roof over the verandah should be the minimum size to avoid shading the downstairs living areas when you want northern sunshine in cold weather (a simple market umbrella can provide extra outdoor shade in summer) ...you could even consider a Juliette/French style balcony upstairs so that you need only have fenced doors opening off the upstairs living room to enhance enjoyment of the views without stepping outside onto a balcony although as little as a 90cm deep balcony would allow space to stand outside without creating too much shade downstairs .....the issue of upstairs for elderly residents could potentially be overcome with a stairlift on easy access central stairs with wide entry and exit....a bigger downstairs guest room (bed 1) would be useful for now and later as a master suite and a future north facing pool house could incorporate a guest/pool bathroom...it could be useful to explore other ideas for a side entry but my suggested shorter front entry incorporating the stairwell keeps the void central and makes more direct access to every part of the house eg kitchen to front verandah and allows the side garden to be secure and private from uninvited guests and i'll make another plan with downstairs bedrooms reversed to see how that could work...See MoreSteph
