Help with paint colour Snowy Mountains Half

I am thinking of painting my house walls Snowy Mountains Half. i have it painted the colour on my wall along with Dulux Natural White. i am continually drawn to this colour over the Natural White as it is more grey and to me seems less softer and gentler than the Natural White. However i would like to add some timber accessories in my home and i know that Natural White works well with timber. Does anyone have any experience with Snowy Mountains Half and whether this colour also works well with timber (both light and dark) and does it compliment it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Choosing the right white is hard - so many options and they look different in every home. We are renovating our home and have new Blackbutt floors with mainly oak and teak wood furniture. Dulux has large a4 swatches for $1 that you can move from room to room easily without lots of patches on the wall. We purchased these for the 4 whites we were considering. We then numbered them on the front to make things easy and put them in every room in morning and artificial/evening light. We wrote down our preference for each room. While different whites work better in different rooms, by the end of the process we had a clear winner - Caspar White Quarter. A beautiful fresh white without any blue tones in our space. We painted this throughout with same colour in satin on the skirting.

Go with what u are drawn too. Both are very neutral. SMH is great with wood as it is slight;y warm, but some people like a cooler tone

Lea, I got them from the Dulux website. I screenshot certain colours, then posted them to thread. Of course, it’s always best to get sample pots and try your selections where you will be using them...need to see them in all lighting and in combination with each other. You may want to speak with a colour consultant at a good paint shop; they are very knowledgeable and helpful. Also, lots of great articles on Houzz. You can can also post a Design Dilemna if you would like the wider community to mull over your colour palette and offer advice! Cheers.

Both of those whites are cool whites with subtle blue/grey undertones. I don't have a sample of Caeserstone Clacatta on hand, but some of the images online show that this has a hint of warmth in it, with a subtle cream/yellow undertone. http://www.caesarstone.com.au/colour/5131-calacatta-nuvo If this is this is the case, and these images are accurate, I would be cautious about combining your Caeserstone selection with either of your paint colours. But the best way to judge is seeing samples together in a similar light. Digital internet images are notoriously unreliable for subtle colour accuracy. Even if you chose the same colour for walls, trim and cabinetwork there will be subtle differences due to the finishes and how the paint is applied. Walls are generally painted with a roller and have a flatter finish than skirtings and architraves which have a bit more gloss, and are painted with a paintbrush. Cabinetwork is often satin or gloss, and applied with a spray gun. This means that there will be subtle variations between these elements, even if the colour is the same, your eye may well perceive differences. Don't plan on a perfect match between everything. tysm. that's a great help. my kitchen will be in laminex chalk white with some laminex classic oak bits. A bit nervous about the chalk white as I cant find any examples of it online but will see how it looks when it is installed and match wall paint to that. s m half looks best match with the sample. my.

I am down to two whites for ceiling and walls of our 70’s red brick house to cover the awful mission brown beams and trims. Natural White / Snowy Mountain Half. My question is what is your professional opinion on semi gloss for both doors and trims same colour? I don’t want to have a different white to compare it to.

Thanks Davincicalbourne. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post and send me some photos. The Casper White Quarter in your house looks lovely and it is helpful to see it in the pictures against the wood. The look is very fresh and clean. i also like how you painted the skirting in the same colour just in a satin finish. i hope to take this approach too as i think it keeps it all looking very elegant. Hi Kate, Thank you for your feedback. i am delighted to hear you call SMH a warm colour that is great with wood as other people seem to call it a cool colour and I was worried that with warm coloured furniture it may not be complimentary. i had a look at it again today on my wall and I have decided I like the grey in it. I am also now considering Snowy Mountains Full strength. Thanks very much for your encouragement. It is wise advice to go with what you are drawn to its a shame its not that easy as we tend to think there are things we may not be seeing and others know more.
