Post a pic for more responses. Sandstone and reds are quite different, being able to see the proportions of each assists.

Why render?? In my opinion it’s the lower section of the home that needs the work, not the house bricks. And the roof needs a good clean and restoration. A new balustrade railing, and either new balcony and stair tiles or paint them.

A monument coloured railing would be wonderful with grey floor tiles.

I agree. Skip the render. Clean the roof. Paint everything that can be painted to match the Monument windows. Update the landscaping.

Thankyou. Yes we were doing trims in monument. Strangely it may seem but in the older Canberra suburbs buyers look for original Canberra reds in housing. It is a dilemma

Only Canberra Red bricks for older style homes.  For this style of home the cream brick is preferred (and over render which is very 90's/00's)

Why are you adding red bricks underneath? It will look super busy with the sandstone

I would keep the sandstone and render the red brick....

ThAnks for all your comments. All good thoughts! I must clarify that as many 60s homes in inner Canberra have been built with a red brick base and a different top (in this case cream brick). In the period many homes also had the top rendered instead of brick. Although the cream bricks of mine seem charming , rendering allows insulation of the walls, which is helpful in the climate. The extra red bricks in the photo are for the footings in our back extension.
