Hello lovelies - you guys have been busy this afternoon. Thank you sincerely for all your efforts to accommodate us and our limitations. I really am touched by the thoughtfulness and time you have invested in our little project. The rest of the house for some reason is not really bothering me... I guess because I'll be spending a fair bit of time in the master, that's probably the reason why I need it to be 'just right'... I need it designed in such a way that will help, not hinder - whilst also be practical, safe and beautiful. Simple things that will promote independence for me, rather than continue to dictate reliance on others which I bloody hate :( Little things like that will do wonders for my self esteem and self confidence and go a long way for me, being the person I used to be... somewhere along the way, I feel that person has gotten lost in a fog of chronic pain in my chest and my back. Others have it worse. Please don't think I'm playing my own orchestra of violins here lol. But if we can nail this, then the rest of the house will be easy lol! oklouise has got my studio room sorted perfectly. And I'm pretty sure the kitchen/butlers pantry and laundry/mud room are looking very schmick already. So I'm hoping once I have this sorted, I won't be around to bother you guys again - hey, there's a light at the end of the tunnel lol. I love what you are trying to do for us siri... it looks like a glam bathroom which I appreciate.... all the practicalities of a hospital style bathroom, but with some gorgeous glamour... I think that is very cool. This is all so very new to me and it's been a great journey of discovery about what is out there.... the picture you painted, the coloured tiles, timber etc... I could see it and I think it would be perfect. Just so I get it right in my own head to clarify - does this awesome large double walk in shower have those narrow walls on either side for a little privacy, shower curtain or glass sliding doors? I guess that is one thing that has me tripped up at the moment. Pro's and con's for all of it. I need something that will look beautiful and still show light, whilst giving me some 'privacy' .... I don't tend to cry in front of my children but if I want to have a moment to let some things go, it would be nice to have a little sook in the shower without anyone seeing me. Obviously I'm very self conscious also so I do think Philip's original 3D image of those large glass sliders was very appealing to me as I could hide behind those without fear of being even more vulnerable in front of my children. I love the romantic idea of the shower curtain and believe it would bring a lovely softness to the space....cleaning wise, it may be a good option if I can swap it out with another to clean as you suggested Siriuskey... something that will be easy to 'clean/maintain' with all of my issues will be key either way. I do have a cleaner that comes once a fortnight to do all the big jobs that I can't do anymore so I'm conscientious of still having a beautiful space in between those cleans and I do worry that the glass may be quite high maintenance for someone like me who physically can't keep it clean in between the cleaner doing it for me if that all makes sense. So I guess that's why I thought maybe the short walls at either end might work? I did a little research earlier tonight on HOUZZ that mentioned about a treatment applied to glass that helps with soap scum etc???? Anyone familiar with that? If that is the case, then I would pick a lovely tinted/sandblasted glass I think - that will still allow light to fly around. Brixnmorta - many thanks for the security film suggestion!!! We'll use a fireplace or set up an awesome fire pit/fireplace in the alfresco area - and that will be perfect. I also am a lover of candles so can have mini fires all over our bedroom lol xxxx

Thanks so much Margot, SiriusKey and OkLouise for your help and great ideas. I cannot thank you enough for all your ideas and expertise. After hearing all your feedback and ideas I saw this bathroom when watching a re-run of house rules. It is the charity house main bathroom. It seems to be a similar shape and size to ours. If we move the door as suggested when can do this bathroom I think. It will allow us to have a bath and shower and larger vanity with 2 sinks. While I adore the bath shower at the end of the room SiriusKey while we only have one bathroom in the house for the moment we need 2 options for bathing / showering. They are often used at the same time with the moment. Thought you might like to see the pictures of what I am currently thinking for our bathroom reno. While I love your ideas for creating an ensuite in the current bathroom and moving the bathroom across a bit. This is probably too bigger renovation for our current situation. Sorry for the delay in getting this to you. I have had a sick 9 mo who only wanted cuddles. Not much time for anything else with 2 others to also look after! @oklouise Gosh, thank you for that. That gives us some good ideas. I didn't realise that's what you meant by 'will draw up your plans' haha. We were planning to have the house off-centred on the block, close to the western side, to reduce hot summer sun from the west in the living areas. That should give us enough room to put in even a double carport or garage. Your ideas have made us want to try and utilise the somewhat wasted hall space a bit better with storage. However, we do want to maintain the north-south dining room orientation. I agree that the dining room bay window is a waste. I agree that the laundry should be moved somehow so it doesn't jut out, but I'm not sure if I like the warren of service rooms. What do you think of something like this? I've seen houses where laundries and pantries are combined. Would the window pose too many issues if we have cupboards under the counter for 'larder' items like potatoes or things? It's east facing so it will get some morning sun. Not too keen on the upstairs rearrangement though, but they're food for thought. I can't see ourselves using the kitchenette, and we have a house rule of no food upstairs. And yes, we want to minimise the square metreage (is that a word?) if possible, whilst still keeping things reasonable. So it looks like a lot of the rooms could be made a bit smaller, to keep costs down. @C P We obviously intend to engage an architect but at this preliminary stage (several years until completion probably) it's not worth it. We know what we want, a closed-plan house with a formal and informal lounge, billiards or games room and a guest bedroom on the ground floor. We though that the architect would simply revise the idea, apply the finishing touches and then get it drawn up by their draughtsman. I understand most people begin designing with an architect but we don't want anything innovative. Might be in for a rude awakening once we actually discuss with architects, but it's a fun exercise at least.

View from powder room with door open is looking through the hallway section into an office / spare bedroom built in wardrobe (if the door is open). Not too concerned with that as door to room is usually closed. I definitely think I'd prefer to save that money and use it on something else, like maybe popping in a little basin over the top of the toilet.... I think it also creates easier access to the toilet when in the main part of the house instead of so another turn... Re the measurements: 930 x 2130 for laundry external door including trim. Also, I am currently just having a look at revamping the toilet room and am in process of painting the walls antique white from a very dark purple (don't worry, going to add interest in there somewhere won't be all white haha) and now figuring out how to embrace the tiles I have with some design and colour choices with walls and window trim or resurface them.. I have a photo below if anyone has ideas but maybe this warrants another post in a different section.. (also note i had to paint on the top of the wall tiles in a line as previous painter had done a shocker of a job...) I am contemplating a toilet/basin unit to save space and putting a kind of inserted custom shelf and frame option in the window to hide it (ugly old window with old paint marks all around the outside) to put plants and some small glass vases on but still have some light coming through. (Also, can't remove the window as I can't match the bricks outside (80's mottled brick) as directly in front of entertaining area. I also can't afford to replace at this stage).
