Your tile will co-ordinate beautifully with the timber if you can pick one of the darker colours out of the timber and select a tile in this family of colour. The trick to making a colour concept work is to either co-ordinate or contrast. If your timber is as busy with grain and colour as the image you've shown, then maybe co-coordinating is the best way to go. Never chose materials independently of each other - always take a tile sample home to see in the natural light, next to the timber. I hope it all works out the way you envisage it. Cheers, Michelle

I have tried all the suggestions Perini - didn't look purple in real life. Tile Boutique - no purple floor tiles at all. All all the lots and lots of other places = no purple floor tiles. Yes I have seen purple glass mosaics almost everywhere but I don't want small mosaics on the floor. Will also cost $55 sqm more to have grouted than a regular size floor tile. Looks like I'll just have to do boring grey as it's the trend but I have at least found one with sparkles if I can't have purple. I'm also amazed at reactions of the tile sales people - questioning, surprise, snobbery and happiness to be trying to look for something that is different. Cant' say I can't find purple, I have but with a 10 to 14 week wait to be ordered from O/S and lots of $$$ but I need to reno the bathroom by then so can't wait. Motto: If you have time and money can do anything.

Hi Creativelychallenged, thanks for the feedback and I love the floor tile we have chosen too! It’s called Riverview Stone and has a really nice feel underfoot. We are doing the Reno very much for us, we bought our house about 4 years ago and have no plans to leave it. After years of moving across the country as a defence family (12 houses, lots of very neutral bathrooms) I am on a mission to use a bit of colour, especially as it’s a kids bathroom and deserves to be nice and bright :). Our kitchen and ensuite are on my wish list, hoping to give them an update in the next few years, so this is our first venture into renovating territory....

This is a fantastic transformation, love everything about it! One thing in particular I love is the fact you went from basically no space to having a huge capacity to spread out and for a cheeky flex in these huge mirrors that should accomodate someone who lifts. Also with the bigger skylight and perfect lighting, now a cheeky instagram shot after a pump from the gym isn't out of the question either.
