Backsplash dilemma

We are redoing our kitchen and want a modern farmhouse vibe. We have selected cream cabinets in a shaker style with black pulls and a Dekton Trillium countertop. We like simple design and love subway tile, but we need advice on how the backsplash can pull it all together. What color/style backsplash would work?

You have chosen a busy Benchtop. I would match the subway tile and grout to the cabinet colour or your wall colour so it doesn’t compete

Have you finalised your selections? If you haven’t I’d pause them until you finalise the splashback decision. I can only see the bench top on the screen but it doesn’t look as though it would work with cream - have you seen the two materials together?

The "Birch Trees" design sounds very interesting, specially if you install it behind the range hood vent and all the way up to meet the ceiling. Any way we can see a bigger sample? Is it a printed detail on glass? or and embossed glass detail?? You already have a "Wood Look" on the floor, visually communicating wood by way of branches would only reinforce the design. I would however consider an oiled bronze, or dark iron color/look (match hardware hinges/drawer pulls) as "Trim" between the subway tile and the "Branches" tiles. Also if the Birch design is printed on glass you will want to carefully consider what type of backing/adhesive you install it with as it will show through the glass.

Gorgeous marble. Love it. I wouldn't do subway tiles, too busy and too much grout. I did large gloss white tiles with white grout and it's not hard to clean if you keep it clean as you go along. Which you will do because it's white and shiny and new! I love mine as it doesn't detract at all from my bench top. The marble could be amazeballs but I'd have the same concerns re too much pattern...Good luck and post a pic when you're done!

We have dulux whisper white cabinetry and it is lovely soft/warm but I made mistake of using non-tinted ceiling paint and even with bulkhead divide it looks too stark white (or makes cabinetry look too creamy). Since I can't change the cabinetry, I think I will eventually go over ceiling with 1/4 tint whisper white.

Hi Mc10. I bought the Calcatta subway tiles on a mesh and will use this Lithofin MN Stain-Stop Tile Sealer once every 3 years. I agree with bigreader. I googled your benchtop and the first thing I thought is that doesn't go with cream. It depends what you call cream tho - is it a classic yellowy cream or is it more just a warm white?? Warm white would probably work.
