Indoor outdoor Living Project
I love indoor outdoor living rooms..But currently my living room is enclosed with a wall and two small windows on it..I have this small rectangular piece of land outside my living room..I am thinking of removing the wall between two windows and including windows to put a sliding stacking door..
I found a builder to check the feasibility of the project and it's all good there..He also gave me a quote of 17k to do this work...I would like a second opinion on this..Do you think it's worth going ahead with it considering the small outdoor space? I am not clear on what I would do with the outdoor space..but I would love all the natural light and openness it would bring to my living room.. Please help me with this dilemma whether to go ahead with this..

2 years agoThe concept sounds good. Which way does your wall face? The photo shows the wall, therefore your potential sliding door is shaded at that moment. Is it a shaded wall all day? If so, that is good, you don’t want the summer sun blasting into the new window. Also, think about the internal furniture placement. Would this still work with a large access to outside. If all is okay, and your budget can afford the change, then I would definitely do it. You could keep the lawn or extend the deck and have an outside sitting area with lots of plants.

Comments (11)You could mount a TV which can swing out from the entry wall from the main house, or on the one opposite one near the back sliding doors, or on the floor, in the corner. Depending if you need storage on the back wall, you could have your lounge at the back of the room, or have a walkway between the back wall and the lounge. An easy moving lounge is great for moving into different positions around the room. I like the idea of the bar as a drinks trolley. Actually furniture on wheels is great for rearranging whenever you like. I usually have wheels mounted to furniture as I live on my own and it just makes it so much easier. Comments (10)my suggestion would be a solid brick wall with full width lowlight double glazed sound proof sliding windows (about 750 of the floor and only about 600 mm tall so that you can look at your gorgeous palms from a seated position without seeing above the fence, also add matching sliding glass doors to completely enclose the space and paint the new wall a dark colour so the focus is on the view....and, if you don't already have some roof ventilation a ceiling fan and roof vent will make the space more comfortable when you need to keep it all closed up for privacy and the side fence needs to be tightened up to cover the gaps and also paint the whole fence in the darkest colour to highlight the palms...sound is like air and water and can squeeze through the smallest gaps so all this effort and expense will be a great investment in your peace and privacy...See MorePOLL: Celebrating an Aussie Christmas lunch: Indoors or Outdoors?
Comments (18)We always have Christmas under our avenue of London Plane trees. The temperature is at least 10 degrees cooler with a beautiful breeze wafting through.
