I have had a Dyson for years, so long that it is starting to wear in the fittings and has lost a tiny bit of suction but still works great. Waiting till the new house is built and I will grace it with both the standard and a hand held/wall hung battery operated. I do think I'll have a Rumba in the new home though, as in the busy time on our farm, I leave home in a tractor at 10am and return at 10pm and this goes on for up to 3 months although not every day but still constant enough, to not have the time or inclination to plug anything in!!! I'm quite house proud and I think a Rumba would make me happy to walk through my door after being our all day BUT I still love the Dyson for now!!!

thanks for the comments- the systems i have highlighted solve the problem of the hose being needed to be taken anywhere- hose gets sucked up into pipe work when not in use. Having had ducted vacuum system for many years- it is much better than stick vacuums- near zero maintenance, but have the storage of hose issue in older style systems. I have a dyson cordless and use it all the time- trouble is the maintenance- removing all the tangled hairs in the head and emptying all the time. Don't need to do that with the ducted one. Anybody have the hide-a-hose

My Roomba is about 6 years old. I put it on daily, I make sure they’re are no cords on the floor and do move some furniture so it can easily navigate the room. It fits under all the beds and lounges, as well as cabinets and bedside tables. I do three bedrooms one day and the lounge, study and master the next. It does s fantastic job. I only vacuum by hand once a month now. They battery died and I bought a $30 one online and it is back to working as well as it ever did. Definitely worth the expense.
