Can anyone suggest a good arrangement for this lounge area- pls

I need help with setting up a lounge area-moderate size TV not huge, two-seater and two armchairs defined by a rug. (Partner wants smaller couch and chairs not a large L-lounge.) The lounge area is wide and I can't decide whether to create a lounge space defined by a large rug, leaving a corridor behind the lounge area to the glass patio or to have the walkway though the middle. TV outlet is on the side with pantry/kitchen.

Assuming you have glass sliding doors to exit from lounge to outside. Which way do they open up? Do they open in the middle, or the kitchen side or the BIR end?

in the middle from both lounge and kitchen ends. the BIR side is a solid wall.

The bookcases are all different styles so I would either paint them all the same colour as the walls or think about some built in cabinets. I would paint the beam the same colour as the ceilings to give height. (I did this in my home and it made a huge difference)I would also mount the TV above the fireplace. Think about replacing the curtains with Roman blinds. The floorboards are quite yellow so if you bleached them and and painted the walls a light colour then your new brown sofa becomes the focal point . I would change the coffee table and add a bright rug and cushions. It's better to have colour in the accessories which are less expensive to replace than having colour in the furniture.

Option 3 also looks the best to me (seems to be the general fave!). Agreeing with the idea of an L shaped sofa that can seat more people, as an option you can also get a bed (fold out sofabed) fitted inside, if you think you will need an extra bed on occasion. Hi siriuskey. Not sure how to place the furniture yet. Still trying to work it out.. I am selling my dining table and chairs. My new chairs just arrived today. Thanks Kate and oklouise. Yes using the Music Room as an ensuite was suggested by a builder last year as it's so close to all the plumbing and would be a piece of cake, however as it's opposite the bathroom it seemed a bit silly. The master bedroom has two windows and is a lovely room, it's just a bit of a hike in the night down to the loo... oklouise, I like your idea as it still keeps the second bedroom, albeit a lot smaller, but it could be used as a guest room as it's nice and quiet. I did wonder about the tiny-smallness of an ensuite where I was originally suggesting. We have lots of freestanding wardrobes now as it is so it should all work. Thank you both so much for your suggestions, I really appreciate it.

something like this would allow for a walkway on both sides of the seating area with a clear view of TV from all seats

My suggestion is similar. You have a enough room for a three seater lounge, and single chairs. Tv unit on kitchen wall. Keep the lounge approx a metre away from the wall which backs onto the room with bir. The green lines in my sketch show the possible traffic passage areas to outside. This is a basic plan. The placement will evolve as you live in the home and work out the best layout for your way of living.
