Decking or concrete?

My theater room has sliding doors leading to the backyard, but the flooring is higher than the backyard level. Which option would work better, decking or concrete?

You could add decking or concrete, decking would give a great look , and by using either it gives another living area to the house, whether it be for a garden or casual relaxing entertainment area.

Either option would work, but decking is a softer aesthetic. And with the composite decking available now, there is minimal maintenance.

love concrete aggregate and it look greats mixed with other surfaces (bordered with a brick can be very effective) but first test a few different mixes to include the various colour stones to complement all the different floor colours both inside and out and make sure all the aggregate flooring is completed together (or the mix of aggregate is prepared at the same time) to avoid patches of different mixes

Our house and garden has a lot of potential but the backyard is tricky. the house is quite high off the ground, so building your typical patio off the fascia is not so simple due to the sheer height and how it may overpower the property. I am thinking Adirondack chairs around a low table, lots of pots and a Bougainvillea growing up the wall would look good. we have a market umbrella for warm days. perhaps long term we will do a deck over the concrete but it seems a waste of money given there is nothing wrong with concrete!

Is this a new build? Do you have a waffle slab? Internet search “Waffle slab and slab heave”. You may need a full perimeter concrete surround/path to ensure adequate drainage. This most likely need to be non permeable. Not having provisions for adequate drainage risks voiding your building warranty covering you for slab issues.
