i would try to change the bed position to opposite the mirror, even though it would be tight at the end, the doors slide so it would still be easily accessible, and take advantage of the widest partof the room. I would install hanging pendant lights to allow you interesting and practical nit light,it will make the space more adult, add your personality without needing bedsides etc. If possible, make space in your robe by clever storage inserts, and put your chest of drawers in the wardrobe. The wall which is white I would put in horizontal panelling board, which is cheap enough and easy to do, construction adhesive such as liquid nails will bond it, and paint it a dark grey so when you walk in your eye is drawn into the room making it feel wider. Also in this wall wall mount your tv and place a small chair in the corner doesn't have to be an armchair,it may even be a colour dipped stool, just somewhere to sit when you put your shoes on or charge your phone, have a ase of flowers occasionally. Lately the bedhead wall, as it's reflected in the mirror, a beautiful oversized piece of art, in a square timber frame, like something on the block, bright or bold, and abstract. With your lights on at night, your Telly off the floor, and no clutter,your bed will take centre stage. Yu can dress it up according t your mood, and invest in luxury linens, they will be the one thing you take when you eventually fly the coop. And you'll thank yourself for the best thing in your space, a place to rest and recover. Do it bit by bit so it doesn't cost you too much, gather all you need at doit in a weekend. Go for it!

I don't think I could cope with an open plan bathroom, I like wet areas to be totally separate, the steam entering the bedroom would be of concern and I would not want to even think about a toilet. We did not even like the idea of having the ensuite opening directly off the bedroom, instead have the dressing room opening off it with the ensuite opening off that. Having the dressing room between the ensuite and bedroom totally minimises noise. I find it far more convenient to walk from the shower directly to the dressing room to dress without even going into the bedroom.

Forget about any designing in the room until you have the clutter under control. We can't even see the room to give design help! If you start thinking about design now you may be tempted to buy extra stuff - and you certainly don't need extra now. Get storage boxes/baskets and store similar things together and don't be scared to throw out anything you haven't used for 6 months! It's a fantastic feeling to get mess under control and well worth the effort!! When you have done that take another pic and tell us what you want to achieve design wise.

Thanks everyone :) I'm not worried about the layout of the room at the moment.. i just need decorating ideas. i currently use the wall above my desk for a pinboard-type thing so wouldnt want it beside the window.. also the window is quite low so dont want to block any of the sun that comes in. at some point i will also swap the desk for a dresser with mirror, and put bedside table between beds. i love this colour scheme (below).. this pic is from a living room but i thought i could base my style around it? any ideas on style/colour/finish of bedheads/head boards.. also bed covering.. i could possibly do a self patterned grey?? any ideas based on this? thanks!
