Floorplan help - increase natural light despite poor orientation?

Hi everyone, I'm seeking some suggestions for increasing natural light to the living areas of our family home (2x adults, toddler and baby) in Perth while ideally staying within the existing double brick footprint. Given budget constraints this will need to be a staged process but hoping to shape our overall plan early on. Our current floor plan is attached - unfortunately the orientation isn't ideal for our solar passive goals but we want to do as much as we can to improve things. This is a 1940s California bungalow with flat roof extension added in the 70s and updated in the 90s. We have recently replaced the leaky flat roof and repaired ceilings knowing that these are likely to be impacted/removed as part of future improvements.

I've included two current ideas and would appreciate feedback on the feasibility (and ballpark cost!) of these plus any other ideas before we start speaking with professionals.

Priorities:

- Maximise northern aspect and natural light to living areas for solar gain and happiness (I really would prefer real daylight and solar gain via eg clerestory windows to skylight/LED panels but recognise that this might be a pipe dream)

- Bathroom renovation is wanted sooner rather than later

- Master with ensuite

- Large and functional kitchen, ideally with scullery or space for hiding benchtop appliances/mess with view and access to backyard (lots of time spent in the kitchen and garden)

Idea A

Stage 1: Turn Bed 3 (3x3.1) into semi-ensuite; current bath (3.7x2.6) becomes B3

Stage 2: Current laundry/powder/study is opened up to become living/dining across the rear of the house with doors to garden and new windows on NW wall; new main bathroom is added to current lounge; laundry included in scullery or landing off garage entry.

Idea B

Stage 1: renovate existing bathroom, ideally with separated WC

Stage 2: Current laundry/powder/study is turned into master suite; laundry included in scullery or landing off garage entry; roofline is changed to add clerestory windows along the internal NW wall in living space.

Thanks so much for your help!
