Internal staircase location and kitchen layout for open plan living

Dear Houzzers,

I have a lovely Queenslander, raised to legal height and asking to be built under. Before I get to the ground floor, though, I am seeking advice about kitchen layout and location of internal stairs on my first floor.

Since my last Houzz consult,

*I have a newly renovated bathroom and

*draftsman, engineer and builder input for the rest of the house.

*Two builders advised against enclosing the external staircase.

Engineer confirmed I can easily remove two of the three internal steel posts from the ground floor layout. (i can attach his notes if helpful)

*The draftsman took measurements of the house as it is existing and these are provided below. (he was a drawing guy, not a computer kind of guy)

*The plans are 1/50 @ A3

IT has been suggested that I take a section off my verandah on the first floor to build in in front of existing kitchen and to remove the wall the French doors are on and the L at the end of them to make a large open plan space. I have to retain a 3010mm support post that is currently housed within the L of the kitchen (see plan).

Internal stairs are a dilemma with or without this suggestion. I have two suggested layouts from the draftsman, but I dont love either of them. I have since played with several internal stair locations, and interested to hear peoples opinion of this location /L design (does it rob too much space from dining room?) as well as advice for how to rework the kitchen layout to inhabit the larger open plan room, the internal stairs, the steel post and ideally, if I can, a butlers pantry that doesnt obscure any windows.

I am posting the existing first floor and ground floor plans with measurements from my draftsman (i havent included his two proposed variations) and my first and very rough draft "working version" of each (called L1 and L0 for the L shaped stairs) I have for how to change them.

I have also made a video of the area in case this helps.

Out the verandah that Id be enclosing is a beautiful green view, as we are up high, so I want to ensure any enclosing still includes lots of vista.

Welcome opinions/ideas for

  1. downside and upsides on proposed stair location and shape
  2. how might the kitchen layout work well with proposed stair location?
  3. how to lay out this space in its entirety, to best use living dining kitchen space and still enjoy the views outside.
  4. how to incorporate the steel post in my kitchen layout, (the best Ive come up with is to have it in the middle of an island but I can’t decide on orientation of the island)and
  5. how to create a kitchen layout that can work well with the internal stairs location (Always open to alternative internal stair location suggestions), the rest of the area and if possible incorporate butlers pantry. don’t need sink in there. Just want a place for small appliances, and pantry goods

Let me know if Ive missed any info out
