Would The Foose Fade Work On A House ?
I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this , but I quite like cars .
On Houzz , I see discussions about whether 3 colours on a house is too many . If you asked most people if 3 colours was too many on a car , they would probably say 'yes' . Same with a house .
Really high end houses use the best in workmanship and materials , and hopefully imagination , and make places that Wow . But a lot of houses are grey .
Same with cars . When you get into really high end customised cars , probably the 'god' of them is Chip Foose . He has built 100's of absolute top end cars that have won numerous awards . He has TV programs , and is a genuine celebrity .
One of his 'secrets' is what is known as the Foose Fade . Basically , you have paint that looks the same , until you look closely , and then you realise it gets darker ( generally the close you get to the ground .
Here is an example --
This car looks like it has been two-toned . Very nicely . When I looked at some of cars that Chip has done , I thought I would use this as an example , because I hate grey , and yet this looks amazing IMO .
But then look closer --
Look at that front spoiler ( the bit below the bumper ) , then look up at the bonnet . They are the exact same colour ! Very , very subtle , but stunning IMO .
Think your eyes are playing tricks on you ? This is the car sitting out in the sun -- its a bit more obvious !
Heres a few other examples --
Even the underside is given the Foose treatment --
These ones are front to rear fades -- darker at the rear !
Of course , signwriters and even on-line advertisements use similar effects to have a fade in or fade out as a backdrop , and I have seen fairly 'wild' variations , like fade from red to black , or blue to orange , but I wonder if it has been or can be done on a building ?
