Comments (22)my suggestion, probably similar to siriusky without base corners, has about 2.4 m of Lshaped counter with a *narrow drop in sink on the short arm, open underneath (without any corner cabinets) and 750mm wide drawers or cabinets near the glass door..space for a stacked (or top mount and wall hung) washer and dryer between the sink and blind corner for tall cabinet for vacuum, ironing board etc with shelves above and tall shallow end cabinet storage for linen? .. almost 2m of standard wall cabinets and a drip drying rack over the sink...there should be space for all the usual laundry supplies and equipment including twin tall clothes basket under the open bench and potential ceiling height storage above the ironing board for suitcases, xmas storage etc...*the narrow drop in sink is to allow a little more generous width for the stacked washer and dryer although reducing the tall storage cabinet to 500mm deep would also allow for a wider sink cabinet and doors and shelves in the tall cabinets should be sized to suit the items to be stored ie ironing board, vacuum and brooms should fit under about 1200mm and the blind corner should be for storage of the rarely used steamer or carper shampooer etc) and storage of vacuum cleaner hoses and ironing boards can be made much easier with specifically designed hanging racks to be attached to the wall inside the storage cabinets and available from IKEA etc......See MoreWIR Design - help me!
Comments (10)We have an identical WIR design, just a bit wider (2800) and longer (4000), which is HUGE , so think yours will be great. Basically, I took the left side and hubby took the right side and at the end is a full length mirror on the wall, which I think utilises the space better than making dead corners. You will want to avoid doors for your hanging space cause your robe isn't wide enough. Drawers no higher than 1.2m off floor height, then open shelving above. Over 1.8m I have shelving behind doors. I got some graph paper and just played around to get the design. As previous person said, worked out how much hanging space (full length vs 3/4 length), and how many drawers we needed. Hubby and I both had different requirements. Made sure my drawers wouldn't end up adjacent to his, to avoid us both trying to pull out drawers in the same part of the robe. He wanted shoe cubbies, but I wanted a pull out shoe rack. Put in a pull out laundry hamper as well just inside the sliding door (on hubby's side, hahaha). I used dark laminate on the doors, drawer fronts and shelf egding. But a lighter grey on internal shelving. It is dark with no windows, so this makes it a bit brighter. All just went in a couple of weeks ago, and looks awesome. But haven't moved in yet, so I can't comment on the functionality. Hope this gives you some ideas!...See MoreKitchen / Laundry - best layout for both to have everything we want?
Comments (22)Hi Harmony, Yes it is getting there! Laundry/kitchen: If I can read the dims my plan will work very well. See if you can follow me here.. left to right dims… l'd 600 bench, 1 m walk, 600 broom & shelf in pantry, 700 depth for 'frige and panty is then 1300, 1200 between benches & 1200 wide island = 2400 along outside wall for DW & sss. This should leave 3600 for meals which is great. Keep chute: get it in the right place! washing then arrives in l'dry. So bench backing garage is where u want bench (sorting) sink (rinse & soak) WM then TD if you need one with bench above. and overhead cupboards to keep the nasties out of kiddies reach. This is the flow of washing from dirty to washed to go outside. The other side backing kitchen is ideal to have some rails to finish off drying or airing, for brought in clean clothes, when ready: fold, stack for kids to take back up stairs. With broom cupboard next to outside door, there are no dead corners! Yippee! Someone put a powder room in here but not needed with the guest bedroom just across the hall. I was trying to make the shower and loo not visible from hall but still accessible from outside. I am sure guests staying of visiting can use this bathroom. Upstairs: I like my layout for ensuite: robe first putting distance between bathroom and bed. Window in robe I mentioned, so you can find sox without light, also lovely to open up for fresh air blast every now then. Looking along vanity to bath and to window. I do like the separate room for loo please with a window. Again not sure of dims but sure it will fit. Bathroom is tope with three people able to use it at once and each area with light and air. Doesn't matter with linen store. to have light and air. This looks to me like a lot of house to clean but a forever home to enjoy entertaining as kiddies grow and family expands. I hope you let us know the final plans and built pix would be lovely to see too. May I ask a favour of you: to write a short testimonial on my page here on Houzz so as others can find me and my design skills too. Thank you Cheers and good luck. Margot...See More- last month
