Any decorating ideas for a home with bluestone interior walls
Comments (29)If this was my place, I'd definitely install a skylight (even just a DIY solatube which someone suggested), then depending on budget I'd make these changes:- - replace floors with light colour timber floorboards since they never date - replace furniture with light colour furniture in both lounge and kitchen - paint kitchen and hutch white - add some plants in white pots - go for large light coloured wall art - replace curtains with roller blinds to maximise light I love the bluestone - it will look amazing when you've added some lighter colours to the room!...See MoreKitchen colour selection
Comments (10)Ooooh I love the first collection of samples! I like the mix. If you are not a fan of white kitchens, you could consider having a bank of cupboards (either high or low) in a colour (perhaps a muted colour which would work well with the glare). Or if colours are not your cup of tea, perhaps a bank of cupboards in the timber/veneer you have chosen for some warmth and texture. So long as it works with the blackbutt floors. I'm planning my kitchen reno at the moment and am leaning towards white cabinetry on two walls, a bank of low cupboards in a mint-grey green, caesarstone bianco drift bench tops, and handmade white tiles for the splash back (like you I prefer matt or semi- gloss surfaces). I want the texture of handmade tiles to break up that feeling of a white sterile kitchen....See MoreRenovation Dilema
Comments (5)For $100k you may be too ambitious on changing the existing structure. You may get new flooring, new kitchen cupboards and reconfigured the existing lounge room into a master (for that bigger space) with a small en-suite. But you will loose your dining room. I would be looking at a 10 year plan. Draft up what you want and stage manage, it will all depend on family needs. If you are changing room configurations in a brick house, you add big dollars. You need precise information eg engineering report on load bearing and structural integrity. It may be worthwhile thinking on an extension to the rear to gain a master suite. Best of luck....See MoreBaltic Pine Floorboards Reno Dilema
Comments (18)I think Japan black would be too dark. We actually had some boards stained Japan black under our carpet that we had to sand back. From memory there was a chocolate colour that I think would look good (dark brown instead of red)...See MoreConnie
