Personally , I feel that coastal is a bit worn , a bit distressed , and based on natural elements . So shiny won't cut it , or 'fake' . Whitewashed , aged , timber , metals with a bit of wear or age .

Brushed nickel is a start , although even that can look a bit manufactured , if that all makes sense . I suspect it would be more expensive , and maight not suit your overall design style , but I porefer the warmth and aging of copper -- maybe thats just me though .

Hey Jordan, Coastal, like every other style, is a spectrum. I love the blue, white and mid colour timber, palette - an Australianised version of Hamptons. I’m less enamoured of rope, manufactured shell table decorations and anchors and boat wallpaper. I don’t mind a little rattan but iffy about hessian. But that doesn’t make me right, or someone who does, wrong. Use something like this and search Houzz photos and stories to find where you fit on that spectrum. Once you’ve crossed off a few versions, and read a few articles, you’ll have a vocabulary that will make the search so much easier. Nothing beats visiting stores either. If you don’t have furniture, kitchen a bathroom centres, interior design shops in your area, take a weekend or two and visit your closest big city. Window shopping is a great way to narrow down your preferences. Being able to see, feel and check prices is invaluable and most, at all price points, are peopled by really lovely helpful people. I’m not sure if Houzz still has a drill down option that takes you to the retailer of some items, but Image Search is a great tool too. Just one last thing in this ramble, beware of labels. Some of the best designs are based on sympathetic reflection on the house style, the surroundings and the lifestyle of the people using the space. They often include a few “not strictly that genre” items and are rarely “everything bought from one source / collection”. Good luck

Pintrest and Houzz both have a search and save functions that allow you to search for inspiration pictures. You can search modern coastal or traditional coastal or even Californian coastal. Endless. On Pinstrest you can see mood boards. For your own home you need to start saving images of rooms you like, you’ll then see common factors that you can incorporate into your home. There are also designers out there that will assist you plan rooms. Many suppliers will provide samples free or low cost and you can create your own flat lay moodboard. Brushed nickel is lovely but there are lots of options.

Love coastal, a few ideas you might love, also love the reeded glass sliding door, you could use white metal instead of black.

Copper and brass , as an alternative . More warmth , more colour IMO .

We live right on the coast and one of the most important factors to take into account is resistance to rusting, otherwise you can find your fixtures and fittings (incl white goods) need replaced after a short time
