The bath tub looks uncomfortable! One would need to be short in stature to have a relaxing soak in a tub shaped like that. Looks nice, but looks don't do it for me. Pity...the bathroom ambience is spectacular! Don't think the designers of these half- egg-shaped tubs and others like them gave much thought to practicality. I'm always glad of my big old plunge tub from years ago, looks lovely newly resurfaced....plenty of room to stretch out, nice wide edges to sit on if needs be, 1/2inch thick enamelled cast iron that keeps the water warm, wide ledge at the rear for easy-to-reach pamper products.... Think I'd rather have a larger version of the lovely vanity basin you've had installed as a bathtub rather than your half egg shaped one. Nevertheless, hope your new bathroom with a view brings you many relaxing hours.

Hi Susan, do you have any photos of the bathrooms you could upload? Years ago we renovated our bathroom in our 1970's brick house by having the wall tiles resurfaced and the result was really good - the original wall tiles were a light apricot colour and the floor tiles were mosaics in khaki (a terrible combination) but we couldnt afford to retile so we kept the khaki coloured mosaics on the floor (even though we didnt like them) and just resurfaced the wall tiles in a an off-white colour. The end look was actually better than we expected and we ended up liking the floor tiles So if you have to do a major colour change I would suggest just resurfacing the wall tiles and keeping the floors as is. But even less cost would be to add some interesting and colourful accessories to off-set the offending tile colours. For example blue/green tones like aqua, teal, duck egg and eau de nil actually work really well with orange/peach so adding some towels and accessories in this colour could really transform bathroom number 3. And dont underestimate large plants - plants look great in bathrooms and adding some really large ones will break up the tiled areas

No! Some would have you believe these tiles are more appropriate for circa, very late 1800 through to 1920's eras. [ Personally, I'd also dispute those claims too] I definitely agree with the comments of Dr Retro House Calls, however, I would like to add that you don't have to be rigid in your approach. If you like these tiles over everything else you can find, then use them for goodness sake. There are no rules to say that you must adhere strictly to everything 1960's. If you want to have a 'feel' of the 60's era about the bathroom, then find something else that will give that 'hint'. It could be as simple as the use of the paint colours of the era, or an art piece that ties the room back. Or perhaps the light fittings or the curtains. The choice is yours. Just DO IT WELL, so that the whole room feels united, cohesive and in harmony with itself. [I'm hoping to have photos soon, to show off the place on Houzz] My theme has been 'loosely' based on the Arts and Crafts movement but the only thing genuinely true to that era is that I have used William Morris Drapes to inspire the cohesive effects of my efforts as shown in my sample board below. Make your project, your take on the 60's and own it. :-)

Is there a reason why the kitchen is where it is? I would change the kitchen to be on the left looking out to the deck, then dining and living, all looking out to the deck, and put bedrooms where the kitchen is. Then the bedroom occupants would have some privacy, instead of having to walk past visitors in the lounge or dining to use the toilet or bathroom. You have noted that the red walls are existing, so I assume all other areas can be changed
