The chair doesn’t belong. If it has to stay for functionality then remove the table and hang the art one under each other on the wall facing out to the biggest space. You could reduce the bulky look of the chair by having only the seat, or no, cushion. But it’s a home not every corner needs to be perfect.

Cupboard or bookshelf, of the same depth and colourway as the cupboard on the side of the peninsula, and a huge, huge piece of colourful art, no frame, on the perpendicular wall. But bigreader is absolutely right about functionality, homes and using what you have

If u can remove that extra bit of cabinet. The bench doesn’t look connected to the main bench. This will give you more space for the chair

Great corner for book shelves and as suggested remove the extra cabinet. Cant' really tell but is there enough depth on the benchtop to have 2 -3 stools in front of the peninsular

Depending on the extent of the work you want to do, thats a great spot for a corner banquette. I'd also remove the odd looking higher bit of cabinetry.

I am scratching my head . The wooden benchtop goes along to where the wall finishes , and stops . Fair enough .

The board below it goes along , and goes another 40cm or so . It has a -- presumably wooden --top on it , but it is lower , and narrower . Weird .

Then the front board has verical grooves . I wondered if it is cupboard doors , without handles , but normally kitchen cabinets have the doors on the other side . Maybe its deep enough to have a divider ?

The 'add-on' bit , with the smaller , narrower , lower top , the partition or groove or door is narrower than most of the rest , but looking closer , each of those grooves seems a different width , so the weirdness continues .

So that added on bit , what does it do , what does it hold , how is it accessed ?

And then to further confuse my brain , that add-on bit doesn't have a kick panel under it -- who knows why ?

Essentially , I'd say remove that add-on bit if its at all possible . IF ( and I've made it a big IF haha ) you could match the benchtop all the way to the wall ( height , width and tones ) , and a kick panel , and access , and shelves across to the wall , then maybe do that , as a bookcase or low display unit for plates or something , but the chance of matching it all seems low to my little brain .

Probably not much help sorry , but I'm still shaking my head in confusion .

I would add an extra length of bench at table height running right to the corner. Add a chair and some shelving above it as a perfect little study area for the kids

I am definitely reading all your comments and are very much appreciated.

I can’t really change the benchtop or the add on bit so I will try with the wall shelves.

The kick on panel broke but we have added it now. The benchtop is the same across the surface. Those are indeed cabinet doors without handles for extra storage.

It is a strange setup but cant afford to do anything drastic.
