Do you mean protecting the door or sheltering anyone standing outside the door? It's not unusual to have a door, especially a garage door like that, with no roof outside it. What is the purpose you want something for?

There's a few things to think about. Wind can blow rain under and the smaller the protection the more likely that is, even more so if you install it as high as you indicate on the picture, but you've got the downpipe and light and the window beside it, and is that a camera too?

It looks like you have a good size step there, which is good. What are you finishing the ground with, and is there drainage anywhere around there?

just want to protect the door from weather and rain but bec of light, camera, & downpipes above the door i cannot add this canopy close to door top. so i feel even if i add on the pointed red line it wont add much protection to the door as you said. so no option for me now :-(

This canopy is only as wide as the door. This may work for your situation, but would give only a small amount of coverage for weather.

You will need a longer/deeper one to protect the area if mounting it above the light and camera. Suggest you discuss with builder

Yes, you can add an awning or canopy.

Plus, adding weather stripping around the door can stop rain, wind from getting in and get UV protection, while a storm door provides extra protection.

Installing a rain diverter or gutter above the door can help direct water away.

Using water-resistant sealants or paints on the door can also make it last longer.

Hello Samara, If you want, you could actually get planning permission & build a verandah along this wall at the indicated height & perhaps even some side screening for privacy & summer sun for windows ? and weather shielding if you think. Contact a local Verandah Builder and ask them for some advice, options and a quote.
