Help please to Improve Street Appeal to this small house!
Comments (13)Great suggestions already. I like the idea of the french doors leading to the lounge and opening onto a covered patio. Block up the existing door unless there’s a good reason for keeping it. I’m sure you can find something interesting to do with the space gained inside the house. Keep everything light and bright paintwise but you could let your head go colour-wise , soft lemon or green with white trims, or different shades of your favourite colour. Some plants in the ground, some in pots: a lemon tree, rosemary, succulents, etc. Good luck....See MoreExterior help please
Comments (12)Hi there Double D, you have a very pretty house the windows and stone feature wall are wonderful. I was thinking that perhaps you could put a flat roofed portico out from your entrance similar to the photo without the extra pitched roof but by replacing that with a narrower pergola across the front, it would have similar flat exposed beams as per the photo and would allow light into the house with future plans for the double carport to come out from house over the circular driveway( where to car is currently parked) so two cars parked side by side parallel to the house, built in the same style as the portico, this would depend on how much space you have and the set back from the boundary allowed to build The Icebergs would have to be transplanted, if you were concerned about light getting back into the house you could add some clear panels into portico Happy Easter to you as well...See MoreHELP - Need help improving street appeal!!!
Comments (12)IMO the picket fence is at odds with the plain and fairly timeless house. Nothing wrong with corner windows per se, however if your climate would benefit from it you could enquire about replacing them with a more modern and energy efficient style. I don't see the need to spend on painting the bricks or roof tiles with possible maintenance issues down the track, unless you genuinely dislike the existing colours and have a clear vision for what you want instead. Sure they're sold as modernising tricks but the results vary and if not well done the house can look like nothing more than 'an old house, modernised'....See Morehelp with street appeal
Comments (9)I'd be the reverse of several of you ( with the proviso that it depends on the condition of some of the existing paint ) -- I'd waterblast the boat shed , and keep those colours , and carry that up to the house . The roof I'd do that deeper forest green , the walls in the creamy yellow , the base in in a 'metallic' charcoal . There looks to be metal railings ? I'd also do them in the charcoal , the veranda supports in crisp white . Then I'd add dark glass panels on those railings , and do the same down the side of the steps ( metal uprights and balistrade with glass panels and dramatic stainless bolts ) . And waterblast the stairs , or covercrete , or as someone says , pebble coat it , although I think that gets slippery when wet ? Clean , warmer and modern , on a budget of $20k or so ....See More- last month
