Advice on color of entry door

last month

Hello. I am looking to replace my entry door with the goals of (1) making it easier for guests to know which door goes to the outside (guests often open the closet door near the entry door - see picture); and (2) brightening up the entry way with light. As such, we do expect to replace with a door with glass (privacy isn't a big concern because you can't see into the entry until you climb the front porch steps to the door).

Our door is currently dark brown (interior and exterior) and solid (see pic). It is covered by a portico/porch and there is another door going out to the porch that is directly above the entry door (see picture). That door is painted the same color as the trim of the house and has glass. We also have a front deck off a family room that has sliding glass doors that are also painted the color of the house trim and has glass (see picture). I am deciding whether we go with a door that is the same as the door directly above it to keep everything consistent or whether I could go with a different color or wood . . . As a note, I am in the San Francisco Bay Area (i.e., no harsh weather) and the door faces the northeast.

I am also considering the color on the interior side. We have three sets of sliding glass doors throughout the first floor and two are white on the inside and one is a pale oak. Currently, the entry door is dark and the closet door nearby is white. I could go white to keep it consistent and allow the view from the glass to shine through (see picture) or I could go darker to match the exterior.

Any advice and/or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
