Designing a media wall

Hi i bought an old house which I am renovating. There is nt much space for media wall. So decided to close an existing cupboard and convert the space to media wall. Its only 188cm in width and adjacent to the wall is laundary door. While its not ideal to have door adjacent to such narrow media wall, Will it look odd to do so? I will appreciate some ideas for media wall appropriate for this space. Pls see pictures. I have attached picture of staircase to give idea of other important pieces in the room. Note that we are going to change floor to a lighter one. Staircase is under renovation at the moment

What about this position for L shaped sofa, and tv. It gives walking paths to all exits and doors. Appropriate size furniture is the key.

Another piece of perhaps important information is ceiling isn't high and room does not get much natural light. Walls will be painted vivid white. I am thinking something like this for media wall

Or you could bring in a timber element to the wall, to compliment the rest of the room, match it to the stair railing, you can size it up to the space you have.

Thank-you both for your input! I think I'm tossing up between putting the chairs in the nook or against the long wall. If chairs go in the nook, it's cosy and there's more walkway space as you said, Luke, for beanbags etc. However, what would I do with the 2m wall near the entrance? Would seating there be a bit odd? However having the screen in the nook would allow for a longer row of seating I think? So potentially more people could fit in, although those sitting near the door may have an obscure view of the screen. It seems like both options have pros & cons! We don't have anything that needs to go in, so to speak, although plenty of seating options and tables for drinks etc would be really great!

Not for me, I find the concrete floors too harsh, the one good thing about them when they go off trend easy to cover with something else.

The second look like they are designed for stairwells so I'd be a bit wary about using them up higher as the light might be a bit "spotlight" and not diffuse enough. I think both styles work with your house design

keep in mind that my plan has single external walls and all the inside and outside walls are 10cm thick to make drawing easier and the depth of the verandahs includes the eaves, adding a brick veneer would use more space and given the choice it would be lovely to plan for a covered walkway and raked ceilings in the living areas and this is a very basic gable roof but there are lots of more exciting/expensive roof options to consider

If say I go with timber, would I have to stick with this sort designing when we redo rest of the parts? Any thoughts? I will be soon creating a mudroom space in the foyer. Foyer is connected to this family room by the door shown in staircase picture.

Can you think of what should be done to laundary door to go with timber designing?

A floor plan would help with suggestions, the photos do not explain what is where, and what is behind the door that you are closing up??

Why aren’t you using the Bed5 shared wall for the TV? You seem to have picked the most awkward place.

Its a weird spot. Bed 5 wall was the best spot for media wall. However we like L shape couch in family room. It only fits if we have its back on bed 5 wall. Even if we sacrifice convenience of L shape couch, I can't think of a way to position 5-6 seats. Note, Under staircase is single pull out storage system. So we need bit space to allow for single pull out drawers to open up.

Beside the Staircase rail is a door. Placing couch towards staircase rail blocks the door that opens to deck. One wall is door and windowswindows. Its a choice between laundary wall and bed 5 wall. Bed 5 wall is more pleasing to eyes but where the couch does the couch go with that setting.

You guys are fantastic. Thank you all for your input. I tried to move my existing couch so that bed 5 wall is freed up for tv and it works okayish. Pls recommend ideas for media wall for bed 5 wall. Its a long wall, I dont want it to look crowded.

What do you mean my “media” wall? Will it be just a television or a huge gaming station with three screens, or a row of surround sound speakers. .? If just a television, then a low line entertainment unit with tv on the top, with your foxtel box or fetch tv, next to it on the unit. Which is not a media wall, it’s just a lounge room with a tv.

A version of your inspiration pic would suit the space. The wall hanging arrangement, and being the same colour as the walls would suit your tighter space.
