Hi I am building my first home and I have everything chosen except for the kitchen cabinets colour. I am going with shaker panels and a grey floor tile and turino benchtop. Has anyone out there done something similar and what colour did you choose to go with? Any help would be greatly appreciated and if you have any pics that you could show me it would be appreciated thank you

Post pictures of your tiles and bench colour. Are the floor tiles locked in?

The first pic is a sample of the benchtop it’s called Turino
The second pic is of the floor tile it’s called Syrus stone grey Matt
The third pic is of the splashback tile it’s called trekking sandstone squared grey

I had black stone bench tops at our old house. My kids would sit up at the bench whenever I was in the kitchen, so I was constantly cleaning off the little hand prints they left behind which seemed to be more obvious when light would hit the bench top, but it was easy to clean overall. Just moved into a house with a white corian bench top around the kitchen sink and stove area and it shows everything, every splash, bit of dust, tiny speck of whatever, everything. Makes me miss the black stone!

Ooooh I love the first collection of samples! I like the mix. If you are not a fan of white kitchens, you could consider having a bank of cupboards (either high or low) in a colour (perhaps a muted colour which would work well with the glare). Or if colours are not your cup of tea, perhaps a bank of cupboards in the timber/veneer you have chosen for some warmth and texture. So long as it works with the blackbutt floors. I'm planning my kitchen reno at the moment and am leaning towards white cabinetry on two walls, a bank of low cupboards in a mint-grey green, caesarstone bianco drift bench tops, and handmade white tiles for the splash back (like you I prefer matt or semi- gloss surfaces). I want the texture of handmade tiles to break up that feeling of a white sterile kitchen.

Appreciate all the feedback, thanks everyone! Yes caesarstone is what our builder includes. Its the statuario nuvo (marble look) caesarstone that I would have loved but after finding out it would be about $4k-$5k more than the 'snow' caesarstone pictured above we realised that wasn't an option for us unfortunately. We are building so I guess we're a bit limited by the companies our builder uses. The cabinetry is polytec melamine range (riga salt pictured above). They do have shaker style cabinets in their thermo laminated range but were told it would cost quite a lot more. Will have to ask for a more specific quote and see just how much extra it will be. Ultimately if budget weren't a factor I would do timber look flooring, marble bench tops, marble or white subway splashback, and white shaker style cabinets. So I guess I'll just have to try and get as close as I can to that look with our budget.

Hi there, I would be thinking to go for white cabinets and walls,with white appliances that you plan on Keeping or can change to stainless, your choice of benchtop. as this picture shows the timber door frames etc will then fit, White cream and timber should blend in with the floor tiles, maybe even the blinds will look ok, photos help

Hey Josh, do you have some cabinet colours that you are trying to choose between? Do take into account, with all recommendations, that everyone’s monitor / screen throws a little differently, btw. Is your kitchen light flooded or are you leaning toward a more dark, moody palette? What about the finish, sheen and texture? Are you aiming for a monochrome look or a feature? So many choices. Unless you’re painting them, you’ll need to know which type and which brand your kitchen fit out people will be using, as that will limit your choices. If possible, take your samples to the cabinet manufacturer / supplier, they often have experienced staff that can help with your decision. That said, I’d go for a slightly paler, but similar undertoned, version of your floor tiles and let that lovely bench top stand out. Like so many decisions though, it really does come down to what you want to highlight, and most importantly, what appeals to you personally. As an aside, I drove my cabinet maker, and family member, to the point of madness when choosing my kitchen cabinets, so I know the angst it can cause 😉

Your choices seem very beige by the colours on my computer. For cabinets, I would look at sage green, or a very light pastel green. Similar to the attached photos.
