Ideas for plan design

last month

Hey,

So I am looking at doing some renovations to make the house/granny flat more usable.

Some advice on what could be a budget friendly way make improvements.

When the property was bought nearly a decade ago it was a 4 bedroom ensuite house, with an attached 1 bedroom granny flat. The original house was built in the 70s and the granny flat early 00s.

In the original house plan the fourth bedroom was a study, and access to this room was external. By the time they added the granny flat they had changed the door way to where you entered the fourth bedroom through the third bedroom.

Not long after purchased I changed the fourth bedroom of the main house to be the study of the granny flat. I did this by closing in the door way and making a door way into the laundry of the granny flat (yellow). At this time the granny flat was separated from the main house due to the internal doorway been boarded up (yellow).

At the time the house was purchased with family and eventually the internal door was uncovered for insurance purposes.

The house/granny flat is now going to have the internal access blocked off again so I can live in one section, and the other section needs to be rented out. Due to this, I would like some ideas on how to change the ensuite bathroom in the granny flat to a separate access. At this time if any one has ideas on how to do this without a major overhaul of the GF bathroom that would be awesome.

A way for the bathroom to be accessible without going through the bedroom to get to it. I am thinking that a small hallway or dual access needs to be created by moving the bedroom door of the GF master,

The shower area is tiled and it a partial open. The bedroom robes share the wall and there is a doorway between the two built in robes.

If I won lotto I would be able to completely renovate the bedroom/bathroom but as that didnt happen any ideas on how to make the changes without a complete renovation would be helpful. Noting the house is on a concrete slab, so any changes to pipes would be costly.

If anyone can tell me if it is possible to put a shower enclosure to make the shower space smaller and still maintain waterproofness (is that a word) and then I could use the wall at the back of the robe to make a new doorway into the bathroom that would be helpful.

Thank you for any advice. Understanding that this may need to be a renovatin project for the future if there are now budget friendly solutions.
