Landscaping suggestions for my saltwater plunge pool
Comments (16)my daughter in law was advised by the pool company not to plant bamboo as once established they do shedd quite a lot and as stated above a root barrier is essential and if leaves not cleaned out of pool will eventually cause trouble clogging the filtration, they planted a pleached hedge and magnolias in large tubs and it looks beautiful, I love the look of bamboo but just be wary , if you are a gardener like me you will sweep up your leaves daily so it's really a matter of choice as to the amount of work you wish to do, good luck, it looks a lovely area....See More'Unique' front of house redesign/landscape w/sunken garage/small yard
Comments (13)I guess the first question is what do you want to do in the front garden ? A fence like dreamers 2nd pic looks great , and hides almost everything , but personally i don't think it matches the style of your house . You don't have children or pets , so it then comes down to a bbq , or a cricket pitch haha . My gut feeling would be to enlarge the front terrace , probably by removing the wrought iron work , and have a 2nd wooden terrace , one step ( say 200mm ) lower than the concrete one , add a pergola over the lot , maybe a latticework wooden panel ( or even 2 ) at the very front , maybe a builtin seat along the righthand side . Of course , you will also want at least a stainless barbeque , maybe an outdoor kitchen , as well as a couple of outdoor tables , and at least 8 matching chairs . There are problems with both low and tall front fences due to the layout of your section , your house is pleasant , my idea would be to update and upgrade it a bit , without trying to make it something it isn't , or without hiding it ....See MorePut Ornamental pears in existing hedge?
Comments (14)Pop over to Pintrest and search “Pleached trees with hedge underneath”, I suspect this is the look your landscaper is looking for. Eg below. Plenty of examples of trees planted amongst hedges. Rather than ornamental pears, have a look at grafted/weeping/standard grevilleas. They fit with your native hedge and will have similar water and food requirements plus they give you some height straight away. And have foliage all year around....See MoreRespectful Landscape and Facade Designs for a Sense of Place
Comments (1)Looks interesting. Does this plan extend beyond the property to the street kerb, borrowing space from public realm? I assume that is the public footpath running straight through. How will it look along the streetscape. Can people park at kerb and walk across. Where do bins get placed for collection. Do you have image of one you have done?...See More- last month
