That's a hard one. My initial thought was to pop a roller-blind above the stacker doors, (that's what we have done and it works well) but with no other blinds in the room this may not look that good. What about drapes that hang on either side of the stacker doors - is there room? Can they be hooked back somehow to the side? This would add a softer element and introduce a new colour or texture that would look lovely with the plantation shutters. Hard to comment further without a photo.

Amanda, it looks like you are having a pergola built as part of the extension. Is that right? It looks like some form of roofing has yet to be done for it. ?? Will want to take this into consideration when choosing exactly how much light you want to filter. I must say I do like look of the blinds shown above, especially ones with filter options and mounted under cornice.

I like it as it is on the large door just add another motorised roller blind for privacy. I would wait until you get your new bed and bed linen and then get a Roman blind above the bed it could be light filtering if you don’t require absolute darkness to sleep. They come in pretty fabrics doesn’t need to be boring and match it with roller blind. You will need bedside tables and lamps but also consider two small pendant lights on each side of the bed instead of table lamps. Large rug under the bed would finish the room.

I am currently looking at replacing the window furnishings in our living/dining room. I'm just not really sure what avenue to pursue. We live in a small town outside of Brisbane with beautiful views of the hills and whilst privacy isn't really an issue, the summer sun does hit this side of the house which turns it into an oven for the day. I love the look of s wave sheers and I'm thinking of pairing those with blockout roller blinds (and panel curtains in the same fabric for the sliding door) to protect against the sun during summer. If I go with this option, should I hang the sheers from the ceiling or just above the window frame? If I go with the latter, how much higher from the window frame should I go? I'm also open to any other suggestions anyone might have for alternative window coverings!
