Artwork size for above sofa

My sofa is 2.15 metres in length and from top of sofa to ceiling 144 cm what size artwork should I i look at. Ive just purchased this print so cushions need to be updated but will return it if not right size. Also thinking my sofa isnt long enough either for this space so looking at replacing that as well.

What is height of sofa and width of wall. Is there anything else on wall. Is the voucher centred. Picture would help

You might try 4'x6', landscape format. We typically start by centering the object around 5' above the floor. Might work better a little higher but you can try it out with tape.

Hi there! I love your sideboard and pendant light, very cool! The print you have is lovely but it's too small. I think this is a great opportunity to introduce either colour or boldness to make a statement, go for a square or rectangle piece that is relative to the length of your sideboard, but don't go longer! The length of the runner on your sideboard would be a good guide - measure this length as well as the sideboard and take the measurements art shopping with you, have fun with it and just pick something you love!!

Hi Lili, There are certainly 'rules of thumb' when it comes to artwork. We wrote a guide on how to measure up for the perfect size artwork and its actually not that difficult to find an artwork in the dimensions you need... if you know where to look! I wonder if it's possible to photoshop it in to get an idea of how it would look? Though I am inclined to agree with Julie and Pottsy that it wouldn't work well. I'd also worry about its proximity to steam and cooking odours. That is a beautiful artwork. I feel for you. Too many windows and not enough walls for art is something I struggle with too. I'm seriously considering displaying some on easels. Might that work for some of your smaller pieces, freeing up wall space for that painting?

If you love the print then the size is fine. If you’re not emotionally attached to it, remove it and get a slightly bigger one.

It sounds like you’re working on creating the perfect space! For your artwork, a good rule of thumb is that the width of the piece should be about 2/3 to 3/4 the length of your sofa. Since your sofa is 2.15 meters long, you might want to consider artwork that's roughly 1.5 to 1.75 meters wide. As for the height, you’ll want the bottom of the artwork to be around 15-30 cm above the back of the sofa. If your ceilings are on the higher side, you could go for a slightly taller piece as well.
