Flooring Living Room Home Decorating

refurnishing ideas please

I have two elderly dogs (pictured) and need to replace carpet and couches. Presently lounge room is carpeted in dark grey carpet and adjoins light coloured timber flooring in dining and remaining downstairs area. Presently 3 x 3 seater couches in dark grey fabric. Plus a dark grey 3 seater recliner separating lounge and dining.
If I replace carpet with timber flooring will the area look like a big scouts hall? ( will need a large floor rug of course)
Thoughts on colour and configuration of leather sofas and perhaps two single couches to replace recliner?
Room dimensions are 5metre sq
I would really appreciate some help please 🙏

No, the room will not look like a scouts hall. Do the timber flooring, add a floor rug for the dogs. With animals I would never do carpet. Work out how many seats you require and whether you want a lounge for laying on. Then choose the appropriate colour for your lifestyle. With timber floors it doesn’t matter what colour lounges, as they don’t have to coincide with the colour of the carpet.

If the current layout of lounges works, then do the same with the new furniture.

You need to add something dark, for contrast and "punctuation".. I agree with the others about painting the front door black (not gray) and would also paint the planter boxes, step, and sides of the porch black. Perhaps as well the window trim and even the eaves trough although I would want to see the roof color better to decide on that. Then some brightly coloured plants in the planters and maybe a small brightly painted stool or chair or small table to the side of the door on the porch area. These things would make the font of the house "sing" and add personality so the home stands out from others around it.

You can always go with textured glass or slump glass,it has a more rustic look and doesn't look so modern as plain glass, it's much easier to keep clean too as it doesn't streak and there is no grout...we have a very traditional kitchen and it looks amazing,this is my laundry and is actually quite a vibrant purple with dragonflies on it because,in the laundry,why not? The kitchen is more nuetral......

Dark green does not go with your house & black would be a bit harsh too against the brick. For a softer contrast what about the Colorbond colour Windspray. It is a softer grey with a bluish green tint & will look good with the white roof too.

I agree with the comments above as well. A garden with different types of grasses looks fabulous in a coastal environment. Your soil type may also impact what will grow best. I had trouble with planting out our front yard at our last property. I took a picture of the area I wanted to plant out to the local nursery and they were able to give me some really good advice of what sort of plants would survive. Also, decide what sort of garden you are after, e.g. low maintenance, native, colourful, or something you need to tend to. There are so many options, but deciding what you are after will make a huge difference in the type of plants you should get. Gallifrey your garden is beautiful, love those cute little green mounds!

I would look at single chairs in front of window and L shaped couch or moving the two fabric couches into an L shape . If you do chairs avoid bulky ones. The tv unit looks like it needs to be on legs.
